Luther, the wearwolf Alpha

1112 Words
AGATHA'S POV We watch from the window of one of the highest palace rooms, as seven great wooden ships anchor at the main harbour. The exit of the leading ship opens lowering its gangway to connect the ship to the island. Two rows of wearwolf guards take their position on the gangway and a massive figure emerges from the ship, adorned with a thin golden crown, marching majestically between the rows. "Who is that?" I ask Lirith, curiosity piqued. "That’s Luther, the wolf Alpha," she replies, her eyes wide. I can’t help but stare." He looks more like a beast than a man. He’s enormous." "He is," she nods. "I’ve heard the she-wolves call him—" Her words are cut short by footsteps resonating behind us. We turn to see Lady Margarth standing in the doorway, her expression urgent. "The king’s brother, Alpha Luther, has arrived and the king's brides presence has been requested in the royal dining hall immediately," she announces. We immediately rush to get my stepsisters. Half an hour later we enter the royal dining hall behind Penelope and Aileen. The room has a long table set and seated at the head is King Atticus. Alpha Luther and his werewolf officials are on the opposite end, his imposing figure more impressive up close. His medium length hair falls messily across his forehead, framing thick eyebrows, a sharp nose, thin lips, and a defined jawline. He would be a perfect lady killer if he wasn't a huge beast of a man who appears arrogant, cunning and predatory. Those traits clearly are written all over him. "Your Majesty, we are honored to welcome you to our lands,” Penelope says with a warm smile, bowing deeply to the alpha alongside Aileen. I notice King Atticus frown but remain silent. Luther rises gracefully, kissing their hands with a charming smile. “ Such beautiful brides. Tell me, ladies, what did you see in my brother?” “Your brother is a handsome and wealthy king, your majesty.” Penelope replies, and Luther smirks at her words. "It appears wisdom ain't the trait my brother care about most." He remarks and his officials at the table laugh. "I would be extra respectful to me right now if I were you, expecially when talking about my brides. I do not take insults lightly," King Atticus warns as everyone settles back into their seats. A server enters and moves around filling goblets of wine and then two more male servers follow, bringing in an array of mouthwatering dishes. "You’ve certainly prepared a grand feast in my honor,” Luther remarks as a server pours him a goblet of wine. One of the wolf officials leans over, sniffing the wine before taking a sip and passing it to Luther with a nod. “You brought a loyal taster with you. No wonder you arrived with seven ships,” King Atticus smirks amused. "Maybe you should take that as a hint that I know you would poison me.” Luther says. "I almost gave an order to sink your ships, seven ships is no way to visit your enemy." King Atticus reprimands him for his large than normal entourage. “Mmm, this is good,” Luther says, savoring the food. “You mermaids chose the best lands for yourselves to produce the best things and left us with the deserts." "It’s not our fault your people have ravaged your lands with wars,” Atticus counters "You have become soft like water, brother, in my place and Caspian's we must be hard like rock to survive." Luther says. "It takes might to rule." He states, glancing up from his plate. "No wonder your kingdoms are in ruins." King Atticus challenges. "The strong build empires through conquest, to conquer you must destroy and s*******r, that's the way of the strong, the weak like you hide in far away islands bragging of their great cities and riches but they still fall." Alpha Luther retorts. "Should I take that as a threat?" Atticus questions. Luther laughs lightly. “You know, if you were less selfish and gave more to your people instead of taking everything…” King Atticus says and the smile on his brother's face fade. "Are you calling me a greedy king? Don't bring out the animal in me, brother," Luther fumes, his voice low and dangerous. "Who is afraid of a rat," King Atticus retort and everyone In the room including Luther's officials laugh at the very same instant Luther springs from his seat, looking like he is heading towards king Atticus, but one of his officials quickly holds him back. “Calm down, my lord,” the official urges. “Let’s enjoy the meal and keep the conversation peaceful.” I am astrouded to see King Atticus doesn't appear intimidated at all, infact he has a smirk on his beautiful face. Luther glares at Atticus for a moment before slowly sitting back down. “What is it that you want in my kingdom, Luther?” Atticus demands. “For starters, I want a mermaid bride that I we agreed on ,” Luther begins. “That wasn’t our agreement,” Atticus replies sounding irritated. “You were to take a human.” “If you won’t give me a mermaid, then let me have one of your brides,” Luther counters, glancing at my stepsisters. I can see them tense up. King Atticus remains impassive. “You have two human brides right here. Why should I travel to Caspian’s kingdom for one?” Luther continues. King Atticus snorts, shifting his cold gaze toward my stepsisters. They sit up straighter, clearly anxious about who might be offered to the ruthless Alpha. “You can give me any of them,” Luther smirks. “They all look the same anyway.” “Do either of you want to go with my brother?” King Atticus asks my stepsisters. They both shake their heads vigorously. King Atticus shrugs at Luther, who leans back with a evil smirk before his gaze shifts to me. “Then I’ll take that human slave. ” he says, pointing directly at me. “Such beauty shouldn't be wasted on cleaning floors and serving drinks?” What?! He wants to treat me like some sort of slave just like my father did? What a savage jerk "Yes, your majesty, he can have our stepsister, we don’t need two servants anymore,” Aileen quickly supports and I feel my whole body tremble. "We have no slaves here,” King Atticus snaps. He looks as angry as I am. "She's a servant and my answer is still no."
