The air didn’t settle. It vibrated. Aria felt it under her skin that strange pulse that had slipped free when Ryan got too close. Her wolf was restless, pacing hard inside her chest. Ryan hadn’t moved. But his eyes… They were locked on her now. Sharp. Searching. Dangerous. “…what was that?” he asked again, quieter this time. Aria forced her shoulders to relax. “Nothing.” The lie came too fast. Ryan’s jaw ticked. He didn’t believe her. Didn’t even pretend to.
