Chapter Sixteen To New Friendships

1517 Words
I wake up the next morning with a weight on my chest. I look down and a mass of blond hair comes into view. She stirs rolling off of me and sitting up her perky breasts bouncing as she folds her leg under her the cover falling to her waist. “So what’s your name minx?” After spending the night I should know at least that. “Ashley, yours?” She looks at me expectantly biting her plump lower lip. “Ian” She gasps audibly a look of complete shock spreading across her face. “You’re Ian?” I nod. “Are you the rogue Alpha Carter is looking for?” Ah ha, so his name is Carter. “In the flesh little minx.” I let the corner of my lip turn up smirking at her. “What’s a rogue like you want with Cassie?” She rolls her eyes hatred dripping from each word. “What I want is my pup, that b***h is as good as dead.” “Oh really?” Her eyebrow quirks up, I’m starting to think she would like to see that happen. “Yeah really. How do you know who I am and who they are?” Little minx shouldn’t be thinking she gets to ask all the questions I’m the alpha here. I let my aura seep out. Even without being her alpha, she can’t lie to me if she’s of lesser blood. My wolf will quickly make her submit. I watch her face scrunch and her resolve slip away. “I was an omega from the Silver Crest pack. Carter’s pack. Until he found Cassie and realized she’s his mate.” The second the word mate leaves her mouth a growl rips through my chest. I sit up grabbing her neck in my hand, drawing her face close. “They’re mates?” Ivan asks. “Y-ye-yes” I loosen my grip “I’m sorry little minx continue.” “He tossed me aside like used goods and eventually exiled me.” She sounds defeated and broken, the way her voice wavers indicates she’s on the verge of tears. I don’t care what that bastard did to Ashley though and neither does Ivan she means nothing to us. The only thought we can focus on is Cassie being mated to that Alpha. We sit in silence for a long time. Both lost in thought. Ashley twiddles her thumbs and bites her lip an anxious twitch she hasn’t shaken. Feeling my gaze on her she looks up fixing a seductive smile on her face. My d**k is already hard from thinking about all the ways I could torment Cassie so when the little minx removes the cover I’m standing at attention ready for whatever she’s got to offer. She throws her leg over me effectively straddling my lap and I slide into her with ease. *** “I’ve got a plan.” Ashley breaks the silence. We’re sitting in the bar we met at. Watching the patrons from the corner booth. “Yeah what’s that?” “You’re alpha blood, I felt it when you made me submit this morning. We just need to get you a pack.” I nod and she takes that as her cue to go on. “Create a rogue pack, and get them to follow you. Not all rogues want to be alone. Then we attack, I know their patrol areas, times, and how many wolves will be there.” At this statement, she diverts her eyes. She knows because she’s slept with someone who completed the border checks. “And how exactly do you suggest we find rogues that’ll agree to attack a pack as large as Silver Crest?” “We don’t give them a choice.” “By that you mean?” “You challenge them, if they win you die if you win you spare their lives in exchange for joining your pack.” “So your entire plan rests on me risking my life?” “I’m sorry” she whispers. “Don’t be, I like it little minx.” I shoot her a wink. She’s onto something if I manage to scrounge up a large enough group of rogues we can distract the Alpha long enough to capture Cassie and get my son. “Really,” she asks sitting up straighter at the praise. “Really just one last thing where do you fit into all this?” Again I let my aura come out, Ivan and I know she’s hiding something. Her heartbeat increases drastically, we smell fear. “I want Carter alive. Kill whoever else I don’t care, but I want Carter.” “And I want Cassie.” The stare-down happening between us continues for minutes when she finally submits. “Yes, Alpha.” I like the ring of that. Cassie’s POV The storm ceases sometime in the middle of the night and I am finally able to try to sleep. I’ve been restless not succeeding in calming my racing mind. I finally drift off. My eyes open when the fresh scent of rain and the wind hit my skin. I’m greeted by the familiar clearing I’ve come to know as mine and Carter’s. I look around for Cain used to his silver wolf being by my side. He’s nowhere to be seen. “I didn’t bring him this time.” I spin hearing the voice of the Moon Goddess behind me. “Moon Goddess” I bow my head having learned to respect her. “No need for that my dear, you may call me Selene for now.” Her smile widens mischief dancing in her silvery eyes. “Selene,” I say the name tasting it on my tongue. The moment it leaves my mouth the memories of being shrouded in darkness come back, the way something ancient awakened in my depths and willed me to return to the living. My face crinkles in confusion as I stare at the ethereal goddess. “Did you heal me?” “No.” Well, there goes that guess. “Was it the mate bond?” “No” “Then how?” I’m a human. “It’s too soon for that my dear. Remember I told you that you’re special?” “Yes?” “You’re more special than accelerated healing Cassie.” “The feeling I get of something unlocking” I don’t know how to describe it. “What is it?” “You will find out in time. Call to me when you do.” “How?” “Think of me and picture yourself here. Ah, we’re running out of time. This is not why I called you.” She sounds rushed. “This is a dream we have plenty of time,” I argue knowing it’s no good but I want to know more. “Yes, however, all dreams end.” A sad smile flutters across her angelic face and disappears just as quickly as it arrived. “Be weary of that omega, be watchful of your past, change your future. This is your fate.” I don’t get to ask what she means because she’s gone fading into the abyss with only her warning hanging in the air. The sun is up and both Carter and Alex are gone when I return to the real world. These dreams are becoming so real it’s hard to think of them as just a ‘dream’. I lay in bed for a while unable to stop replaying Selene’s words in my mind. I know I have to get up. Throwing the covers off I climb out of bed stretching as I walk to the door. The sound of Alex’s giggles fills my ears when I swing the door open. They must be close. Padding down the hallway I see a sight that warms my heart immensely. Carter has Alex sitting next to him on the big black leather couch. They’re bundled up under a throw blanket eating Alex’s favorite cereal Cinnamon Toast Crunch. “Rubble on the double” snaps my eyes to the large tv where paw patrol plays. Alex giggles again bringing my attention to them. They look so happy. This is all I have ever wanted for my son. Ian never did anything with him and Carter has done so much without me ever asking. Tears threaten to spill over and I blink them away. Alex’s little arms wrap around my legs “Mommy come watch paw patrol.” “Lead the way.” Alex grabs my hand pulling me to the living room. I sit on the other side of him as he climbs back onto the couch. He spreads the cover over my lap and curls into my side. “Thank you, my sweet boy.” Carter reaches over taking my left hand in his interlocking our fingers over Alex’s lap. His tiny hands rest on top of ours and I place a kiss on his forehead enjoying every aspect of our morning.
