**Reika**
I didn't let a crack appear through the mask I wore as Kyren escorted me back to my chambers, didn't as much as flinch as the fabric of my dress rubbed against the burn on my arm.
I smiled gently to the maid s that worked last and released a sigh by the time I was safely in my bedroom.
“Do you need anything?” Kyren asked, his hands around the doorknob.
“No. I'm fine.”
He nodded and closed the door. As he left I hurried to the key hole to make sure he was totally gone before crumbling against the door and slipping to the ground.
The proud and unruffled expression I wore cracked, my stomach twisted in on itself and a shiver worked its way through my back.
I folded my arms around my knees, rocking myself back and forth to cool the tremors that flooded my body.
My burial. I was about to be buried.
For the past few days, it didn't seem real. It was almost like I was in a simulation but now it all became clear.
I was really dead. Gone from the life I knew, the life I cherished and was born into and dropped in the body of a prostitute with a dark secret that might very well kill me again.
I shrugged off the coat Stephan placed around my shoulders, exposing the burn on my arm to the cool air.
I closed my eyes and let my head hit the door gently. For a moment I was back in the kitchen, my hand on my stomach, my hand covered with blood.
The blood of my unborn child.
Lyra and Kaid.
A chattering echoed from my jaws as I ground my teeth. Their faces flashed in my head, their cruel smiles replaying over again.
Everything I had missed. Everything I had been so blind about.
Ohh, I was going to take my revenge and I was going to enjoy every bit of it.
Even if I failed to make Stephan mark me before the time was up, Lyra and Kaid won't escape what's coming for them.
I pushed off from the ground, kicking Stephan's jacket into a corner and padded over to the bed.
The covers had been replaced despite the obvious fact that they weren't slept in all night.
I had just slipped beneath the blanket when a knock filtered into the room and the door was pushed open.
Arya walked in, her hair tied into two pig tails, the apron around her dress slightly wet.
She wasn't alone this time. Behind her, a middle aged woman trailed wheeling in a hanger chock full of dresses, blouse, trousers, two pieces and boxes of shoes.
I sat up in bed.
Was I being replaced? s**t! Were those elders able to read minds? I would be surprised if that woman that closely resembled a half boiled chicken could.
“What's going on Arya?” I demanded.
“The Alpha instructed that your wardrobe be upgraded to fit your new status.”
“But I already have boxes of clothes I haven't even touched.”
One thing about Zara, she loved her appearance. The closet was chock full with clothes that made my face go red with embarrassment.
Who would have thought the dare devil Alpha King of Raven Claw had fantasises about f***ing a maid?
“I'm sure the Alpha is aware but he insisted these should be added to your wardrobe.”
I flopped back into bed, a groan escaping my lips and watched with a bored expression as they arranged the new outfits into my wardrobe and took out the older clothes.
Arya went outside the room to retrieve more boxes which contained jewelry, trinkets and new boots.
I dropped my hand over my eyes, trying to block out the sound of them working and the scratching of fabric against fabric and failed.
“Arya, fetch me something comfortable to put on.” I instructed, pushing the hand of my now dried gown off my shoulders and letting the dress pool around my ankles.
Arya brought a navy blue trouser that hugged my curves like a glove, a white sweater that provided a much needed warmth this chilly afternoon and boots.
I threw the clothes on in a hurry and barely stopped to look over my appearance before racing through the door.
I wandered through the corridors, looking at each of the guards before I passed.
I was in no mood to receive another note that might add to my doomed fate.
Argh moon goddess, why did you have to send me to such a problematic life!
If you had put my soul into a dog's body, I could have had an easier time with taking my revenge.
“That would actually be a beautiful sight.” I mused, the image of Lyra and Kaid—their bodies riddled with bites, bleeding and screaming—filled my head.
The heat of the sun kissed my cheeks as I stepped out of the house and settled on a thick patch of grass.
I flicked insects from my skin, the tightness in my tummy reducing as my brain struggled to come up with the next course of action.
Trying to hide my true identity from Stephan, create a revenge plan that will save my pack and destroy the evil couple.
If time permitted, find a way to get marked, stay alive and leave Raven Claw.
“What a drag—” the air was knocked out of my lungs as an hyperactive ball of fur crashed into my arms.
Woof! Woof!
The dog leapt around my stomach, forcing my back to the ground and baptized my cheeks in an unholy amount of saliva.
“Oh my gosh! Where did you come from, little guy?” I giggled, rubbing his fur and lifted him to the air.
He wiggled his tiny limbs in the air before twisting out of my grasp and landing on my chest.
“Snow!” A masculine voice echoed through the garden.
I managed to grab hold of the dog and look at the figure heading my way.
“I'm so sorry! I didn't know Snow would attack you that way!” The man spoke.
His face was hidden by the shadows of the sun so I had to block the rays to finally look at him.
A pair of cool green eyes met mine, his hair was a dusty blonde and his lips were pulled in an indulgent smile.
“It's alright. I needed the company anyway.” I giggled and brushed Snow’s white fur.
“I don't think we've met. I'm Myron, the Alpha’s brother.”
Brother?
“I wasn't aware Stephan had a brother.” I answered. He looked to be around the same age with Stephan but I was sure that they couldn’t be twins.
Stephan seemed like the kind to eat his brother in the womb so he didn't have any competition.
“I'm adopted. And you are? You seem familiar but I can't place your face.”
Okay so how was I going to introduce myself? Mistress or Luna?
Might as well go for the one I like.
“My name is Rei—Zara. I'm the new Luna.”
Myron looked around, a flush flooding his cheeks for a second before he gave a hurried bow.
“I'm so sorry. Snow, show more respect to the Luna.”
Snow only yipped in response and continued to bath my fingers with his tongue.
“Oh please. I don't care for those crazy standards. I'm a normal person just like you are.” I giggled.
Myron joined me on the grass and tapped Snow's nose to stop him from licking me.
“I arrived at the palace last night. That's why I missed the Luna ceremony.”
“You're always away on missions?”
“Yes, pretty much.” He smiled.
I nodded, not knowing what else to say.
He didn't seem to mind the silence as he plucked a stalk of glass and slowly began to weave a flower from it.
I watched, the ache in my chest absent and my face at peace without any mask.
Maybe, just maybe after all this is over, I could take some time to find myself again. Heal.
Not now. Now was time to bleed over those who made me bleed. Bleed them in the same painful way.
Snow crashed into me again as if to pull me out of the dark place I was descending into
Myron suddenly stood from where he sat, his hands folded in his laps as he looked in the distance.
I followed his gaze to find Stephan approaching, the wind blowing through his hair—giving it a dazzling look and a charismatic approach.
An audible groan left my lips.
“Snow, can you bite that man?”
