I never expected to leave that place, but I'm glad I'm here with Desmond. I hop off Desmond's back,
"Desmond, I'm sorry." He turns around, he lifts up my chin to look at him,
"Alannah, I'm not going to lie, you pissed me off- but you also hurt me. But I know that our entire mission has changed." He touches the little bump and gives me a kiss. I never would have thought I was pregnant- I didn't even know I could.
"Ahem." I rest my head on Desmond's chest while smiling at my Mom.
"What have they done to you?" She's talking about the scratches on my legs- the ones I put there, just under the hem of my dress. Desmond just now notices it, he looks at Ama,
"I put them there, but they haven't healed." Desmond touches them, his finger gliding across each one sending electricity throughout my whole body- wanting more.
"How is that possible?" I ask.
"That baby. It's more dangerous than you know. But we can't talk about that right now, we need you guys to help us train the Vampires. C'mon." We enter the warehouse, Desmond holding my hand shouts,
"We're back!" and laughs. I look back at my Mom, she looks disappointed. I draw my attention to the floor while Desmond speaks to the newbies. Gabe pulls me away from Desmond, I let him lead me into another room- my mother following me. Gabe embraces me, giving me a big hug. I know what this is going to be about- me leaving. I felt a sudden panic in my throat, my heart is wanting to leave.
Gabe stands next to my Mother, he will support her in anything she is going to say.
"Alannah, I told you to be careful." My mother sighs.
One Year Ago
This should be the last of my things. I fold the last part of my clothes and put them in the box. I tape up the box and place it next to the door.
I check through drawers, closets, and under the bathroom sink for things I could have missed, but I don't find anything.
"Are you two having s*x?" I heard Gabe asking me. I jump, what kind of question is that?
"Uhm, that's non of your business." Besides, he knows the answer- he was the one that had to buy us new clothes when I lived at his home.
"As a doctor and a scientist; that is my business. So tell me- are you two actually having s*x?" I focus my attention on making the bed,
"Yes, we are." I hear him scoff, but I also hear his heart racing- he's hiding something. That's when I hear her voice, the voice of my Mother.
"That's all for now Gabe, thanks. You may go." I see Gabe leave, my mother closes the door and sits on the bed that I just made. I feel extremely uncomfortable right now. Where the hell is Desmond? My Mother pats the spot next to her, basically telling me to sit.
"Alannah, you need to be careful." I raise an eyebrow- this is none of their business whether or not I decide to make love to my boyfriend. It's not like I can get pregnant or anything.
"Why must I be careful?"
"Alannah, whether you like it or not- you developed human genes. There is a very small chance of you getting pregnant, but if you do get pregnant; that baby will be the death of you. It will kill you because of it's power- Alannah, your special. But if you get pregnant- I won't forgive Desmond."
Present time
I didn't forget that time, in fact I was sad to find out that I was pregnant because that inevitably means my death and Desmond has no Idea. I was told by Gabe that there are very rare instances that vampires can give birth or even get pregnant, but a vampires pregnancy lasts about 3 months. A vampire baby can only grow to about 3 months before they need to be surgically removed and continue to grow outside the womb.
I trained a section of new vampires on using my blood- with fake blood of course. My blood hasn't been used in a case like this, but I know it acts as a poison.
"once you deploy the grenade run for cover, if you get the slightest drop of this blood on you- your going to die, very painfully."
Desmond has the job of teaching how to fight, Gabe is teaching the other group on using statistics on the field, how one chemical is better than the other- I would hate to be them. My Mom is teaching the last part of the group about their power.
When the day is over- I'm exhausted and could use a very hot bath. I walk into what I thought would be a bathroom- but it wasn't. I turn around and run right into a wall- ouch. I don't remember there always being a wall. I look up and see Desmond- that has happened in a long time- since I met him actually. Am I really loosing the vampire side of me? I rub my bum as Desmond helps me up,
"Did you not hear me walk behind you?" I shake my head no.He brings me in for a hug, I hug him and squeeze him hard. Desmond sits me up on a dresser, touching the scratches on my leg.
"Why did you do this to yourself?"
"I was angry, out of control. This was the only way I calmed myself down." Desmond grabs a knife and slices open a bit of his wrist with his blood dripping down onto my leg. The cuts heal almost immediately.
Tomorrow is going to another training day- I'm just hoping that Majika is okay until then. I'm curious how Jeremy feels when the ceremony doesn't work.
I turn to face Desmond, sleeping- for the first time, I think he is really sleeping. I scoot out of the bed, placing my feet on the wooden floor, tip-toeing out of the room. Vampires don't sleep so most of them are training even harder, they don't want to die just like I don't want to.
I walk down the stairs and head outside- I need a bit of fresh air. It's been a pretty eventful vacation, I'm starting to feel like it isn't a vacation at all- even the human part I grew up with is filled with supernatural parts.
"Oh!" I place my hand over my stomach, I feel it throbbing, I get on my knees and cradle my stomach to comfort the pain but the pain just becomes stronger.
"s**t, What do you want," I cry,
"It wants blood," I hear Desmond say. I wanted to turn around but I knew I couldn't, the pain would just grow stronger. Desmond bends down to my level,
"This is something you and I are going to have to get used to." he says. Desmond places two blood bags in front of me, while he has one in his hand. I open one of the bags and drink it- down it actually. The pain begins to subside, I'm able to sit down at least. I open up the second bag and sip it.
"How did you know?" Desmond looks at me,
"Honestly? Your mom told me. She was also the one who supplied the blood bags too." I laughed.
"Well, thank you." Desmond pulls me closer to him, I place my head on his shoulder as we look up at the beautiful night sky.
"remember that first night we had under the stars? When I almost kissed you?"
"Of course I do." I said.
"If we win the fight, can we go back to London when this is all over?" Desmond chuckles and kisses my forehead,
"Of course."
