Chapter SixteenI was surprised by how quickly the school day passed. It was unbelievable how promptly I’d gotten used to all the staring and gossip. With the added pressure of needing to find a way to keep Keeya alive, I dove into my studies in a way that would have made Zoe proud.
We left Luci with her girlfriend and kept our mobile phones on loud for any alert she might send. Every half an hour I checked my phone anyway, but there was nothing.
By lunchtime, I’d had a lesson in herbs and potions with Lecturer Ramona Rivers—a tall Amazonian-looking woman with great natural blonde locks. I also had a class on psychic studies with Lecturer Sophia Moon, who sort of reminded me of a human version of Minnie Mouse. She was petite and sweet with dark hair and mousy features.
