Chapter 3: The Cage 2 Eva’s breath was ragged as she fought against Alessio’s grip, her heart pounding so violently she thought it might burst from her chest. His hold was unrelenting, his strength an unmovable force against her frantic movements. “Let me go,” she spat, her voice laced with defiance. Alessio exhaled slowly, his patience clearly thinning. “Eva,” he murmured, his voice low, dangerous. “You need to understand something—I don’t lose.” Her pulse quickened. “Neither do I.” A flicker of something unreadable passed through his dark eyes, but he remained still. His grip loosened just slightly, enough for her to take a shaky breath, but not enough for her to escape. His control over the situation was absolute, and it infuriated her. “You’re making this harder than it needs to be,” he said, his tone almost amused. Eva’s jaw tightened. “And you’re delusional if you think I’ll ever stop trying to get away.” Alessio studied her for a moment before sighing. Without another word, he lifted her effortlessly, throwing her over his shoulder as if she weighed nothing. “Put me down!” she shrieked, pounding her fists against his back. “I will,” he said smoothly, striding through the corridors. “Once I’ve ensured you won’t try something this foolish again.” He carried her back to her room, ignoring her protests, and pushed the door open with one hand. With calculated ease, he deposited her onto the bed, his hands bracketing either side of her before she could scramble away. Eva’s breath hitched. They were too close—far too close. The air between them was charged with tension, heavy and suffocating. Alessio’s gaze locked onto hers, his expression unreadable. “You’re not a prisoner,” he said finally, his voice quieter than before. “You just refuse to see the truth.” Eva clenched her fists, her nails biting into her palms. “And what truth is that?” Alessio exhaled, his fingers brushing against her cheek for the briefest of moments. “That you belong here. With me.” She recoiled, her body trembling—not just from fear, but from the unwanted heat that his touch ignited. “I belong to no one,” she whispered fiercely. Alessio smiled, a slow, knowing curve of his lips. “We’ll see.” He stood up, his absence leaving a hollow space in the air between them. Without another word, he turned and left the room, locking the door behind him once more. Eva curled her fingers into the sheets, her chest rising and falling rapidly. She refused to accept this as her fate. She refused to let him win. One day, she would be free. And when that day came, Alessio DeLuca would regret ever thinking he could control her. --- The following days passed in agonizing silence. Eva spent hours searching for weaknesses, any c***k in the fortress that held her captive. But Alessio had built his world on precision and control—there were no accidents, no easy ways out. One evening, as she sat by the window, the door opened without warning. She turned sharply, expecting Alessio, but instead, Elena stepped inside. “You have to be careful,” the girl whispered urgently. “He’s watching you.” Eva’s eyes narrowed. “He’s always watching me.” Elena hesitated, then stepped closer. “I heard him talking to someone. Something about proving a point.” Eva’s stomach twisted. “What kind of point?” Elena’s gaze darted toward the door. “I don’t know, but… I think he’s planning something. Be careful.” Before Eva could press further, Elena slipped out, leaving her alone with a fresh wave of unease. Alessio was planning something. The thought sent a shiver down her spine. That night, sleep evaded her. She lay awake, her mind racing. If Alessio had a plan, she needed one too. And this time, she wouldn’t fail. --- The next morning, Alessio came to her room, dressed in his usual sharp suit, exuding power and control. He studied her, his gaze lingering as if searching for something beneath her defiance. “Get dressed,” he said. “We’re going out.” Eva blinked. “What?” His smirk was almost lazy. “You heard me. We’re going out. You have ten minutes.” She wanted to refuse. She wanted to fight. But if this was an opportunity to learn more about the world outside these walls, she wasn’t about to waste it. Ten minutes later, she was led outside, where a sleek black car awaited. Alessio opened the door for her, and she hesitated before stepping inside. The drive was silent, tension crackling in the air. When the car finally stopped, Eva’s eyes widened in shock. They were in the heart of the city. Crowds of people moved along the sidewalks, unaware of the storm brewing within her. She could run. The thought sent a rush of adrenaline through her veins. She could slip into the crowd, disappear before Alessio could stop her. As if sensing her thoughts, Alessio leaned in, his voice a whisper against her ear. “Try it, and I’ll make sure you regret it.” Eva clenched her fists. The threat was clear. He wouldn’t just drag her back—he would make her pay for it. For now, she would play along. But this wasn’t over. Not even close.
