When Marie got home, she met Sofia making preparations for dinner and questioned her about why she was just preparing dinner at an odd hour.
Sofia lied about having a runny stomach, and Marie decided to take a bath and join in the cooking to ease some stress.
As Marie walked past her, Sofia was so relieved to have realized the mother did not have a clue what just happened, nor did she see her and Clinton beneath that tree moments ago.
She was still basking in this euphoria when Marie loudly called to her in what seemed like an emergency.
She rushed into the bathroom and saw her mother holding her stomach, looking almost feint, and complaining of a sharp and intense lower abdominal pain just below the ribs.
Although she has had some pain before, this time it was more severe, and she couldn’t hold it.
After much ado and applying cold packs to the affected area, she got a bit better and was able to hold until the following morning.
When the following morning came, Sofia called Mrs. Kensington informing her that her mother had to visit the hospital in an emergency and would come late to work.
However, Marie could not go to work at all that day, as requested by the doctor. This was because the test results showed that her condition was severe and she needed an urgent kidney transplant.
Thrown into a fuzzy state, Sofia cried her heart out, having no other place to go aside from her mother’s rich employer.
She got there and informed them of the update, and after a lot of begging and tears, they calmed her down and decided to help sponsor the mother’s treatment.
Henry promised to send Alexander to deliver the funds needed for the transplant and to represent the family as needed.
With all her heart, Sofia appreciated them and made her way back to the hospital to share the good news with her mother.
However, before she could leave the estate, Alexander blocked her path and told her that the offer to help her mother came with a daunting request; he would not allow his family to fund her mother’s transplant unless she agreed to his long-standing advances.
Sofia was caught between a rock and a hard place. Should she accept the arrogant billionaire heir’s offer, her love affair with Clinton would be jeopardized.
On the other hand, not accepting the advances meant that her mother would remain sick and might as well eventually die from the disease.
