Episode 2 The First Clues

230 Words
Emma Carter arrives at Rachel Dawson’s apartment, retracing the journalist’s last steps. The scene is eerily undisturbed—no signs of struggle, no forced entry. It’s as if Rachel simply stepped out and never returned. But as Emma searches deeper, she finds a hidden compartment in Rachel’s desk containing a single, cryptic note: “He sees everything.” Emma meets with Rachel’s best friend, Lisa, who is visibly shaken. Lisa reveals that Rachel had been acting paranoid in the weeks leading up to her disappearance. She spoke of being followed, of feeling like she was being watched, but refused to say by whom. She had even changed her locks recently, fearing someone had been in her apartment. Emma then visits Rachel’s office at the newspaper, where she discovers a list of names in Rachel’s files—people who had disappeared under similarly strange circumstances. Some were whistleblowers, others investigative reporters. Rachel was clearly onto something big. Just as Emma begins to connect the dots, her phone rings. An unknown number. She answers. A distorted voice whispers: “Walk away while you still can.” The call disconnects. Emma stares at her phone, gripping it tightly. Rachel had stumbled into something dangerous—something that now has its eyes on her, too. Determined to uncover the truth, Emma knows one thing for sure: Rachel didn’t just vanish. Someone made her disappear.
