Chapter 2: Between the Scenes

461 Words
I texted my friends early the next morning through the group chat letting them know that we had broken up. “What!?” sent J. “Everything seemed like it was going so great!” sent K. “Yeah. Just…can we meet in the library at lunch?” I sent. “Yeah. Meet you there,” sent J. “See you then,” sent K. At the library, I went ahead and told my friends about what happened, and they did not take it very well. “Are you kidding me!? I can’t believe he did that!” said J “Yeah! Didn’t you mention that you told him about that creepy dude? The reason why you don’t like messages like that?” said K. “Yeah. I did! He was the one who told me to block that guy too! I guess it just doesn’t transfer when you’re horny or something,” I said. “That’s just messed up!” said K “Really twisted to go and do that to you!” said J. They were saying all the right things and I agreed with them 100%, but I just couldn’t shake this feeling…and couldn’t help but miss him. “I’m so sorry, girl. Are you going to be okay?” said J. “I’ll be alright. Just gotta get through these next few months of high school. After that, I won’t have to see him everywhere anymore,” I said. The bell rang letting us know it was time to go. I hugged them and they headed out first. I stayed behind for a little bit, taking my time to gather my bag to go. What I didn’t tell them was that I was not ready for any of this. I just wanted to go home. That realization made me tear up on my way out. I went home that afternoon and spent all night thinking about everything that had happened… The break-up. The conversation with the girls. The rest of the school day. The amount of time I spent, and the different paths I took to avoid seeing him. The funny thing? One of our mutual friends, Ryan, came up to me that day too! “Hey!” said Ryan “Have you spoken to Javier at all today? He looks pretty off.” I guess I may have forgotten to tell him about it. Whoops! “You guys broke up!?” Ryan said, shocked. Thankfully, Ryan got the hint that I’d rather not speak with him at all. With the weeks that had passed, I was all cried out. The seasons in the times were changing. All that was left was annoyance with two things: him and getting through the little bit of senior year left.
