Espanyana's P.O.V  The taxi pulls to the end of the deserted street labeled “Tokyo blvd” “Right here’s fine” I spoke as my eyes fixated on my house that sat unbothered atop of the hill in the distance. I sent the taxi cab driver one last smile before exiting her vehicle. As my heels hit the paved road the driver quickly sped off into the distance leaving me vulnerable in the night. A sigh escaped from my lips as I began my journey towards my safe haven. The moon sat directly above the spikes on my roof, reminding me that the witching hour is beginning to fade. I can make it inside in time I know I can My heels begin to scrape against the concrete as I move swiftly up the steep slope in attempts to make it inside in enough time My skin begins to sizzle as the rays of the moon start to feel toxic on my being, indicating that my protection is wearing thin. My hands grasp onto the keypad connected to the gate before quickly typing in the code. 1400 “Any day now!” I stressed as I awaited entrance onto the primacies. The iron salt rinsed blades begin to lift and I quickly move through them before running towards the front door. My fingers clasp around the handle before using my entire force to push in the giant iron door protecting my home. The door released a loud creak before slowly opening, allowing my body to slip inside. My eyes immediately meet with the red flashing light of the clock engulfed in the darkness 12:59 I released a breath of air I didn’t know I was holding as I realize I made it home with one minute to spare. “Not too bad” I joked Before I could begin my journey to my room, the lights turn on, completely obliterating the darkness I was once surrounded by. “Where have you been?” A voice spoke out with concern My eyes brush past the grey tiled staircase that cascades throughout the entryway before landing upon my roommate Natalia. “I went out for drinks with some friends.” I lied I really didn’t feel like telling her the truth about my whereabouts. If I told her where I’d really been and what I’ve really been doing- I’d never hear the end of it. Natalia was one of the witches in my coven, we were all mighty- and all-powerful before they were all massacred. Me and Natalia, along with a few others were the only ones to escape, and after that, we all went into hiding. We’re one of the last remaining witches with the blood of Asmodeus, and it’s impossible to know how many of us are left. So as of right now, we live as of it’s just us, which is why I can understand her concern for my safety but I really don’t have the time for it. “You’re lying. I know what you were doing. Why? Why would you put yourself at risk like this? Especially on a full moon? What if you didn’t make it here before the witching hour ends?!” She stressed causing me to groan in annoyance. “Well I’m here aren’t I? I made it in time. I’m fine, I’m safe. I had to take the risk, the full moon is my only opportunity to become stronger permanently! Not just temporarily, even if it is just for an hour. And I did it. I got what I needed, I’ve taken my sins and now I’m here, safe, even more powerful than I was before.” I express as I make my way up the grand staircase “What if you don’t get so lucky next time?” She questioned as we now stood face to face. “It’s not luck, it’s skill. Maybe next time you should come with me, your cunning is starting to decay. I can smell it from here.” I suggested as I walked past her and began my journey to my room “Time to collect some sins!” I called out before disappearing from her view I walk swiftly down the dark and narrow halls before making my way towards the third door on the right. Once I settle into my room, I immediately begin to strip myself of all clothing before settling into the maroon robe that Dane purchased for me years ago I sit down at my wooden vanity and ignite my candles, offering light in preparation to face my own reflection. My grey eyes against my caramel skin look more piercing than they did before I left causing me to smile in satisfactory. My fingers brush against the witch hazel sitting on my vanity in a glass container before picking it up and bringing it to my lips. In the past witches used witch hazel as a herb to cast away evil and to heal broken hearts. Then mortals got their hands upon it and used its strength to clear acne scars. Disgusting When consumed in a liquified state, witch hazel can purify any toxins in a witch from the inside and out. Leaving your abilities to be fresh and rejuvenated. I tilt the container slightly, allowing its contents to slide down my throat. I watch in the mirror as my eyes begin to dilate, allowing my grey eyes to fade to black. My dark complexion looks as if it’s radiating against my raven curly locks as the witch hazel continues to purify my insides. The burning of its purification begins to dissipate and I watch as my reflection returns to normal. I really needed that My weight shifts to my feet as I open my blinds, now- finally being able to enjoy the full moon. I lay my body onto my bed, relaxing my being as I look out my window. I begin to reminisce about the past when my coven would celebrate the new cycle. We used to party all through the night under the protection of each other. There was no such thing as being inside before the witching hour ends. We were too powerful, nothing could stop our reign. We walked with the vampires Terrorized with them And when our hour ended, and the moon could no longer protect us from the other beings of the night- we had nothing to worry about. Because it was known. Never f**k with the witches of our bloodline. It was high I wish I could get back. One I long to get back. One I intend to get back.
