Chapter 20 “What a moron,” Santee muttered as she crossed the dark family room to Ruarke’s bedroom. She punched in the lock code, not expecting it to work. Now that Ruarke had gotten her out of his room, the smart thing would be to change the code. She knew she would have. But the latch clicked and Santee entered, but the expected dark hallway was well lit by the glow of light from the bathroom. After so many nights of having to leave the light on for his scaredy-cat roommate, Ruarke had obviously forgotten to shut it off last night. She reached in to do so and froze.
