"Tonight?" I said, and even I could hear how thin my voice had gone. "Rhys, it's almost midnight."
"I know, I know. Bad timing. I just got excited." He rubbed the back of his neck, looking slightly sheepish now that he'd actually clocked the hour. "You look exhausted, honestly. I probably shouldn't have shown up unannounced with a whole research folder."
"I am exhausted."
"Yeah. Sorry." He started closing tabs, and I watched every single one blink shut with something close to relief, though I made myself keep my face neutral the whole time. "Can we look at it tomorrow, then? I'll send you the folder tonight so you've got it, and we can go through it properly at the session."
