I stared at the photo until my screen dimmed, then tapped it awake and stared some more, like staring hard enough might make it disappear. ‘isn't this her?’ I checked the account again,no bio, no other posts, no way to trace who was behind it. I clicked into their followers. Empty. Following list. Empty. It was a burner, made for exactly this, sent from exactly nowhere. I spent the next hour trying to figure out where the photo had even come from. Reverse image search pulled up nothing useful, just a dead end after a dead end. I scrolled back through the old Northgate alumni page, heart hammering, looking for any recent posts that might've resurfaced something from the archive. Nothing.
