Rhys showed up right at seven, laptop bag over one shoulder, looking more relaxed about tonight than I felt in every possible way.
"Okay," he said, dropping onto the end of my bed while I set my own laptop up on the desk. "So how's this working? Video call, audio only, what?"
"Audio only. She's kind of private about it." I kept my back to him, fussing with cords I didn't actually need to fuss with. "Also, she recorded her answers ahead of time instead of doing it live. Said live calls make her anxious. Easier for her to just sit with the questions alone and record when she's ready."
"Oh." He sounded a little disappointed. "No follow-up questions then?"
"We can note down anything we want to ask more about. I can reach out to her after, see if she'll answer a couple more."
