It wasn't a surprise that old man requested for my presence , nothing went past his ears anyways. I breath deeply wondering why the hell I let Judy take care of her in the first place thinking about it , the reasons seemed numerous. The girl was clumsy with he ability to magnet trouble , wherever she goes and naive , I truly wondered how she survived on this world alone on her own these past years. She's intelligent but certainly not brilliant. But I got to give it to her, she was quite hard to deal with.
I chuckled , realizing it was her naivety that made her stand out from other women.she was cute in her own way . she was unique in her own way and that made me adore her.
I hope our future babies inherit my intellectual gene and not hers cause if they do , then we would be in big trouble. But I didn't mind it though. She was too mesmerizing for me to give a f** about it.
Another miniature Maya didn't sound so bad. Cause I knew she would be treated exactly so specifically and the child would be loved so much. I would just have to learn how to live with the double trouble.
"We're here " my chauffeur announced , snapping me out of my thought .My eyes widened at once, what s**t have I been thinking all this while? I groaned ,knowing I would slowly go crazy if I kept this up. I stepped out gracefully, inhaling the fresh morning air . Not even looking intimidated by the magnificent castle nor the endomorphic looking body guards guarding it .so I walked in , hoping to settle this as soon as possible. The old man was inside feeding and scratching a caged colorful parrot on his head. His posture was free and spirited as he continued making squeaking sounds that the parrot imitated.
"For an old man you do have alot of time disturbing a busy man." I remarked with heavy sarcasm as he tilted his head slightly, barely acknowledging my Presence. So I gently took a seat waiting for the old man as he immensely in his quiet space with the bird. Although the bird didn't really quite understand the concept of silence since it kept singing , with it ever changing gurgles , trills whistles and squeaking sounds.
"Lo, how long will ye ignore me o old man?"I taunted using Shakespearean accent. He glared at me as my lips revealed a smirk. I knew he hated the word old man , but it felt kind of good to get on his nerve.
" you young generation, he started , with no respect for the older generation" he said as he broke his colourful suspence. He frowned as he continued, "you have no regard for the older generation and that is where you go terribly Wrong. I married your late mother at the age of twenty so I really wonder how old am."
I stiffened up immediately, I really hated when my mom's memories were brought up, especially by my dad.
"I have no time for our parrot monkey conversation of Maya , so am going to cut right into the chase. I stood abruptly halting the mans feeding of his bird." Don't dare touch her, she belongs to me." I warned with a deep ferocity that even stunned me. Talk more the old man that was struck dumb.
After a deep stare off he suddenly chuckled leaving me cautious than ever. The old man could look kind and gentle but I only know how cruel and destructive he could be.
"You know I named her Maya." He said as I followed his stare only for it to land on the bird , I scoffed , how could he compare that ugly bird with my beautiful Maya.
"Warm cheerful and most of all a good company just like Maya." He muttered stroking the bird's head lovingly but I caught a glint of disdain in his eyes which he did so well.
"I love that girl, and his eyes narrowed at once. What's he trying to say ?
" Out of your playthings she is the most loved and I would have claimed her even if you could haven't claimed her as yours."
My body stiffened as I clenched a fist on my hand and glared daggers at him but he ignored me.
His affectionate gaze deepened as his hands trailed over the bird from it head to its neck .
"But I wouldn't trade her for your safety ." his affectionate look suddenly turned to demeanor , and his grip on the bird tightened as it flap its wings begging for survival . I wouldn't let anyone compromise with your safety for Maya or anyone else , cause I know you can always found a thousand Mayas out there and even if you don't I can gladly clone one for you..."
He retorted and suddenly wriggled the parrots head successfully separating its head from its body, with blood splattering in the cage and on his hands .
A normal human being would have thrown up , cower in fear and shuddered but I stood unmoved , not even a little bit shaken .Being nurtured in this family was one thing but being raised as a successor from birth was another story all together .Being a successor was a huge responsibility that I had to carry on my shoulders . That position was designated for me from my mother's womb . I had to undergo trainings normal human being wouldn't go through. Done and seen things others wouldn't , so this was just a tip of the ice. The only reason why Kay got so easily into our family was of two reasons . poppy love and business benefits . I was too young then to understand that there was a whole deal of love , that it was just not simply something to be trampled with easily cause it stings and hardly heals.
Moreover , Florence and me had been highschool sweethearts so it only made sence for us to end up together, and a concrete connection with the Wrights family would insure and solidify our business relationship. So a relationship with her would guarantee more business ventures and collaborations.
It was obvious Florence was a spoiled brat cause every of her demands were met within a whim.
At first , it was just an engagement, then she decided to move in with me. Which I objected but Florence had great persuasive powers, that could even convince a king to give up his throne. Thanks to the drugging, I never knew Florence was already pregnant with our baby until both families , discovered it by chance but kept mum and instead decided we should have a wedding. They kept me in the dark , until Florence's belly started showing.
