Day 19 – 42 days left
Robbie
*POOF!*
The sudden pillow thrown in his dream made Robbie opened his eyes as someone plugged is eyes back into his socket. The duvet covered his body has done protecting him from the cold temperature from inside of his bedroom. Robbie moved his body to look at his alarm clock. It's Friday 5:40, twenty minutes before his alarm is supposed to beep as loud as possible.
Robbie does his turndown and morning exercise earlier while waiting for the alarm to screech and the sun to rise. Just after he was done exercising, the alarm beeps loudly in his room. Followed by the sun rising beautifully on the sky, decorating the atmosphere.
Robbie walked downstairs as he left the bathroom. He met his mother, who was preparing breakfast for the family.
"Hi, mom," Robbie met his mother.
"Ryo-kun. You got up early, huh?" she replied.
"Yeah,"
"Sorry, sweetie. I haven't cooked the breakfast yet," said his mother while she cuts the vegetables.
"It's okay, mom. I'll watch TV in the living room,"
Robbie moved to the living room and sat down on the comfy sofa. He picked the remote that was placed on the glass table in front of him and pressed the power button. A few moments later, the TV displayed the news show. But just after Robbie turned that TV on, the news just put to a commercial break. However, he patiently watches the commercial, where it's an advertisement from a restaurant named "Rapido Bento,"
"Wassup y'all, feeling hungry? But you don't have groceries, or you're busy? I'm Rocky D, and imma bring y'all to the wonderful breakfast at Rapido Bento. Esketit,"
The scene switched from the house to the restaurant, "Here. Me and my homies always hangin' out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. 'Sup bro?" Rocky D's friends met him and fist-bumped at him as a greeting.
"That's a dope meal back there," Rocky D smiled while his left thumb points at his friends, "The reason I love to have a lunch here is they have various fresh foods and meals. Everything comes from fresh ingredients. For real! And even more lit, it's cheaper than your total groceries. Go ahead y'all, try it,"
Rocky D closed the scene by closing the session like he's closing the garage door, and he mentioned the slogan before the ad ends.
"Your daily food served here,"
"Rapido Bento!"
The screen freezes for a moment. Suddenly the screen changed into a darker version – horrified the atmosphere. A nursery rhyme played in a distorted version. The sound is very unsettling as it played on a broken ice cream truck speaker, making it more morbid. The boy's face next to the "Rapido Bento" logo has a b****y and disfigured face. His hair was partially shaved. And the slogan below the logo has changed from "Your daily food served here" to "Get to the room,"
Robbie got petrified by the scary glitch from the TV. He didn't even move a muscle as that ads unnerved him. God, what was that?!
A few moments later, the screen blacked out again, and the boy jumped on the screen, along with the distorted and garbled voice from the TV speakers. Robbie didn't understand a single word from the sound as it has so much static that overlapped the voice. He tried to leave the sofa and manually turned the TV off. But somehow, he can't move. It feels like his body was stuck by super glue.
The screen blacked out for the third time. The TV showed the word "Feel my 9mm, Robbie" before it quickly turned into "NO SIGNAL".
Alright. I had enough
Robbie quickly reached the remote and turned off the TV. He didn't dare to turn on as he won't see what happened to the TV next (Also, he doesn't want to miss the bus). He vigorously jumped on the sofa and run to the dining room, where his mother meets him.
"Ryo-kun. Don't run inside the house," she warned him, "Anyway, the breakfast is ready. Go ahead, sit down,"
Wait, what?
Robbie was surprised if the breakfast was ready and placed on the dining table. What he remembered is that his mom was cutting the vegetables a few minutes ago. So, it's illogical for her to cook breakfast for less than three minutes. But, about what happened just before has made him a conclusion.
Did I just skip the time?
After Robbie and his family have done eating breakfast, he moved to his room to get dressed. Then walked back to the dining room for his bento and walked away from his house, where the fresh air meets him and accompanies that 17-year-old boy on his journey to a place called the bus stop.
Robbie and Mullet entered the bus and took the backseat as usual. Some of the seats are occupied by the students and some people who head to their destination. Just before the bus drives away from the stop, the driver pressed the button to change the LCD display that attached under the bus's ceiling, where it reads:
NEXT DESTINATION
WEST SUBURBAN
Suddenly the words displayed on the LCD glitches and showed the number 9 repeatedly, followed by the "m" before the LCD spammed the word "9mm" at the duo's eyes.
"9 millimeter?" Mullet asked.
"Dude, that word. It after me," Robbie whispered in fear.
"That word? 9mm?" Mullet replied.
"Yeah, does the word appeared on you too?"
"No," Mullet shook his head.
"Wait. you didn't?"
Mullet nodded.
"But will something happen at school?"
"I don't know," Mullet shrugged, "But probably. We better be careful,"
"That means… there will be shooting in the school?" Robbie shuddered in fear.
"I don't really know. But what you just said creep my nerves," Mullet holds his breath, "We better stay alert, thanks for informing me,"
Robbie and Mullet walked into the schoolyard as the bus speeding away from the bus stop. The eye-catching front yard view of the school didn't attract Robbie as his mind stormed by the bad omen that'll come to them. The "9mm" word echoed in his ears, blurring the surrounding ambient while his eyeballs look for something odd. But what he saw was just students with their school bags.
He scans the surroundings again until he saw a girl with a duffle bag that wasn't given from the school. The bag itself was large and uncommon. It's impossible for a student to bring such a bag even though the books that are meant to be carried are relatively few.
"Yo Mullet,"
Robbie called his friend with his index finger. Robbie points his head toward that girl as he found something suspicious, but not yet confirmed. She kept walking alone among the crowds of students, and her face shows nothing but a poker face until she went into the school and disappeared from their sights.
Robbie and Mullet looked again at something strange in the shoe locker room. However, they couldn't see everything as the shoe lockers blocked their sight – Covering any suspicious movements. They quickly changed their shoes and rushed to the hallway to see that girl again. But she was nowhere to be found.
"Keep your eye on that girl, dude," Robbie whispered.
They walked up to the third floor, where the second-years study there. As they still have enough time before the class starts, the walked one lap on the hallway to confirm their suspicions. But again, the girl was no avail. Mullet decided to walk into his class the lesson is about to begin. Meanwhile, Robbie decided to stay in the hallway.
Robbie finally gave up and walked into his class as all of the students were gone. But just before he walked into his classroom, he saw that girl again. She walked into the bathroom with that duffle bag – trying to hide something. His mind was blinded, and he insisted on after that girl.
"Excuse me. Why do you still outside of the class? You are supposed to get in there. Unless you want to skip the class and I can report you," Sonoda-sensei surprised him behind.
"Oh," Robbie gasped and turned back as he called by her, "Sorry! I was just… err I'm going in now,"
"Go ahead," Sonoda-sensei smiled.
Sonoda-sensei's sudden call foils Robbie's plan to snoop that girl's movement. He has no choice except to obey the teacher and walked into the class 2-1 to begin the lesson.
The school bell rang as the time reached 12 noon. Informed the students for the lunch break. Robbie rests his mind from thinking two things during the class; the lessons that he listened and his mind about the girl with the large duffle bag.
Robbie pulled out his bento and walked out of the class – following the students who bring the same thing. While he almost reached the doorway, Nino called him with her lunchbox on her desk.
"Hey, Robbie. Wanna go to the roof?"
"Yeah, Wanna follow?" Robbie replied with his hand holding his red-white colored lunchbox.
"Sure," Nino nodded, "Thanks to you, we finally decided to bring our own lunch."
Well, I guess the g**g is back again, huh?
Suddenly, some students who heard their conversation begin to ask Robbie to have lunch together. Again he had to face more people like before (read part 6). Actually, he doesn't forbid his buddies to join their lunchtime with the g**g. It's just he would have a hard time dealing with the crowd.
"Fine, go ahead," Robbie nodded. "But don't too much."
I just want to have a quiet time on the roof
"Only those who bring their bento are allowed to get the ticket," Nino added.
YAAY
Robbie walked out of the class as Nino asked him afterward. They walked together in the hallway like a magnetic pair. Coincidentally, they walked toward the restroom. Suddenly, his mind focused on the duffle bag that he saw. He knows if that bag was in the girl's toilet. Robbie wanted to ask Nino to see the bag, but he recalled the rules, where they should not let the school know about the mystery.
His mind battled between asking Nino or just keep silence. If Robbie asks that girl, something worst would be happening. But if he just keeps his mouth zipped, he wouldn't know what's inside of the bag, where it could be a bad thing.
Robbie put down his walking pace as he needs to choose between asking Nino or not. But finally, his conscience call defeated the rules and his mind. Robbie slowly opened his mouth to speak up to her. I guess I better ask and prepare for the worst.
"Excuse me, Nino. Can you do me a favor?"
"Sure," Nino nodded, "What is it?"
"Can you go to the restroom and look if there's a bag inside?"
"Bag? Haha. There's no way someone will smuggle her bag in the toilet," Nino snickered while they're stopped a few meters from the restrooms.
"I know, but can you please do it for me?"
"Sure thing, Robbie. Which one?"
"Girls," Robbie sighed, "That's why I asked you."
"Can do," Nino smiled, "Hold my bento,"
Robbie stacked her lunchbox on his red-white lunchbox while that girl went into the restroom and started seeking for a bag that Robbie didn't specify its identity. Robbie waited for her by leaning back on the wall. While he's waiting for Nino, his mind making some hypothesis for the duffle bag was hidden.
Okay, there are some theories where she hid that bag. It's impossible for her to directly hide such a large bag in the toilet. (A) She may be smuggled that bag under the sink. Of course, the girls would not look or reach something underneath. (B) She probably hid the bag on the toilet seat. And she locked the door from inside and climbed to the next one. Or (C) She maybe hid that bag on the ceiling. Sleazy, but worth trying.
A minute later, Nino walked out of the restroom with a blank face – Indirectly tells him.
"Sorry, Robbie. But there's no bag in the restroom."
"Did you check inside the toilets?"
"Yeah, but nothing,"
"Can you please check it once more?"
"Are you sure?"
"Try to look underneath the sink, or look up to the ceiling,"
"Look, what actually you wanted for?"
"Just do it," Robbie forced her, "Please,"
"Ugh, fine."
Nino walked into the restroom again. This time, they had to move faster before they miss the lunchtime because of Robbie's curiosity. Less than 30 seconds, she came back with no results.
Robbie finally decided to walk to the roof together with Nino and the other students who want to eat together with him. His mind focused on his theories that have been proven. According to Nino's information, he knows if the option (A) and (B) is wrong. Except for (C) that hasn't been confirmed yet. He actually wanted to trespass into that toilet. But he thinks twice, which entering the girl's restroom is a stupid idea and it's not worth it for him.
After everyone finished their lunch, they all back to their class to continue the lesson waiting for them. As Robbie blend with the crowd of the students along the way, he and Mullet broke away and walked a few meters behind.
"Did you see that girl?" Robbie asked.
"Yeah," Mullet nodded, "I saw her walking alone in the hallway. I'm not sure where she was going to,"
"She went to the restroom,"
"How did you know?"
"I saw her brought the duffle bag into it. But when I asked Nino about it, the bag is 404,"
"You asked her?" Mullet surprised, "Dude, don't you already know that we are supposed to keep this secret?"
"Don't worry. I played it safe. I didn't tell her specifically," Robbie shook his head, "By the way, if you see her walking through the hallway, did she walking back to the same lane?"
"Oh," Mullet shocked. His facial expression represents he just saw something unsettling, "She didn't."
"Can you do me a favor?"
Mullet nodded.
"I'll go into the girl's restroom and search for that bag, while you stay in the boy's restroom to check the condition. Can you do that for me?"
"Good god, are you crazy?!" Mullet scolded.
"I know! This is a stupid idea, but I had to do it. Otherwise, we will never know what's inside that bag,"
"You know what," Mullet stopped him, "I think we shouldn't do that, you molester. Why not we stalk her until 5? But we had to skip the club."
"Umm…" Robbie silenced, "I pulled back my words. I'll follow your plan,"
He canceled his perverted, yet good plan about to get into the restroom as Mullet has an ethical, yet stupid one. As there's nothing to talk anymore, Robbie chased his classmate and walked into his class to continue the next lesson.
(This part moved to the first-person POV)
I finally have my time as I skip the class. Hiding in the bushes was a worth waiting 'til all of those students walked back into the class. The whole situation's empty and makes it easier to do my job as they're isolated in a room called class. It's time to do my job.
I looked at the hallway on the second floor. It's full of first-year students. But I still safe as I get there barehanded. I just want to cancel this, but the wrath already kicked into my feelings, destroying my healthy sense, my conscience, my mind, everything!
The third floor, where the second-years sit here. I remember there's a student named Robbie who saved his friend from class 2-5. I don't know the world his name, but I still remember that hot guy saved that nerdy. I'm here, in front of the stairway on the second floor. A few meters from the girls' restroom. Where that bag full of fun things is hidden there. But I had to sneak from their eyes, I won't let myself exposed. The only best choice is crawling next to the classroom until I reached it.
Finally, I put my foot into the restroom. The cold-dead walls horrify the restroom, plus no girls are doing their stuff here. I like it because I'm the Ghostface in this game. There's no turning back now. It's too late for that. I'm ready. One hundred percent ready. The time's here, to end my suffering and move for a better... better…
I locked the restroom. I draw out the butterfly knife from my pocket and look for the hole, where my stuff is hidden there. Eureka, I found the hole at the corner of the restroom. With the help of the knife, I opened the tile like doing so with a crowbar, took the bag out, and placed it on the sink.
I unboxed the stuff inside of that large duffle bag. Yes, it's a fun thing that I wanted today. It's a Mac-10, a Glock 18, three magazines for my mac, two magazines for my Glock. Two hand grenades, my butterfly knife, and a police vest that I wear to save my stuff while I'm doing my Funtime.
I put my hand on the sink and stare at the mirror. I took a deep breath a few times. The cold surface of the sink doesn't make me scared now. The reflection of myself is clear, the person who will satisfy her vengeance, bloodlust, and wrath. Just a slide of my hand, and the 9mm out to their dreadful, yet pathetic soul. Here I am. I'm ready.
Now I'm coming for you. Yeah, I'm coming for you all.
To be continued…
