Karma cried, the hardest she'd ever cried before. She felt like her life, was really coming to an end. Not physically but after feeling like everything was finally good, she finds out she's pregnant by Kenton.
Kenton. He had to be the one. Kacy and Karma haven't been intimate around the same time Kenton r***d her.
The room door opened and Dion walked in. When he got the call from Karma, hearing how hard she was crying and how she could barely get the words out, he rushed right over.
He quickly grabbed her, pulling her into a hug. "Karma, wassup man?" He mumbled.
"He got my pregnant" she managed to say, still crying. Dion scrunched up his face.
"Kacy got you pregnant? I thought y-"
"No not Kacy. Kenton, got me pregnant" just those words finally forming from her mouth made things sink and settle in. Her breathing started to become labored.
Dion clenched his jaw, feeling more anger rise within him than ever before. "Where this Nigga at?"
"No Dion. Please don't leave me" she held into him "What am I gonna do? I can't have my husband's, brothers baby. Kacy's really gonna leave me" she looked at Dion with a panicked look "Dion. Kacy's gonna leave me. What am I gonna do? H-"
"He won't leave you Karma. You know he won't leave you, that man loves you"
"That's before I was pregnant with his brothers baby"
"And he'll love you after"
Karma ended up crying herself to sleep and this gave Dion some time to think. He honestly didn't know what he could do but the one thing on his mind was killing Kenton. That wouldn't help anything though, except help Dion feel better.
Grabbing his phone, Dion dialed Kacy's number and he picked up on the 3rd ring. "Was good, Nigga"
"Man, I got some news for you"
Kacy put down his blunt and stepped away from his family as they talked among each other "Wassup? The kids good? Or Karma?"
"It's Karma. She called me crying hard as f**k man. I come over here, expecting to have to beat a nigga ass, ya know. And man"
"Damn Dion, what the f**k happened?"
"Remember when Kenton r***d her?"
"Yea"
Dion sighed "He got her pregnant" the like grew silent as Dion and Kacy tried to figure out why else to say. Dion looked back at Karma who was asleep. She still had a sad look on her face and her dried tears were still seen on her cheeks.
On the other line, Kacy sat on the chair that was outside the house. His head was in his hands as he sighed, trying to figure out what to do.
"I'm coming back, man. Don't tell nobody either"
Kacy hung up with phone and within the next two hours, Kacy was on the next flight back home. His real home.
Later that night, Karma made sure Moesha was eating at the dinner table and made sure Keegan was bathed before breast feeding him. She sat at the table with Moesha.
"Momma, what's wrong?" She asked.
"Nothing baby girl. I'm fine. Hurry and eat ok? You have a big day at school tomorrow"
Moesha was getting ready to take the aptitude test. It was a simple test that showed how smart a student was and if they were allowed to skip a grade.
"I'm scared. What if I do bad?"
"You won't do bad, Moe. You already you're smart. I know you're smart. Keegan knows you're smart. You'll do amazing, ok?"
The doorbell rang and Karma stood up. She walked to the door with Keegan still clenched to her chest. Opening the door, she stood shocked when she saw Kacy.
He looked over her appearance. She looked so exhausted and looked like she had the world on her shoulders.
Stressed out.
Being his woman, Kacy felt ashamed. She shouldn't be feeling stressed out.
Walking inside, he kissed her lips "We needa talk mama"
She nodded and closed the door behind him. His bags were dropped to the ground as he grabbed for Keegan. Kacy smiled and kissed his son.
Karma laughed at the expression on Kacy's face. "He did just get done drinking breast milk"
"It didn't taste that bad" him saying that got another laugh from Karma. Kacy walked to Karmas room, leading the way for her to follow.
Leaving the bedroom door cracked, Karma sat on the bed and teachrd for Keegan. "Dion tol' me what happen. That you pregnant"
She nodded and could already feel the tears coming "I'm sorry" she mumbled.
"You ain't got nothin' ta' be sorry about, baby. I'm not mad, I'm not gon' leave you. Imma be here fa' you, like you was fa' me all them other times. "
Karma looked up at him before looking back down at Keegan.
"Ya thought about what ya wanted ta' do?"
"You mean like, abortion or carrying to full term?"
He nodded.
"No. I don't know yet. I feel so disgusting with myself, knowing he r***d me and got me pregnant. Like, I just wish all this was a dream"
"Jut take ya time, mama. I was supposed ta' stay in New Orleans for another few days but ya need me more. My family need me more"
Karma smiled a little. "I don't know why I thought you'd be mad at me and leave me. I was freaking out with Dion earlier because of it"
"Ion know why either cause ya know I'm not going no where."
*****
It's been a few days since Kacy had been back home. He chose to stay with Karma and the kids instead of being back at his place, hoping that'll ease things for Karma.
Not only did she have to deal with recovering from what Kenton did you her physically, but now she had to deal with being pregnant by him.
She's been through so much, Kacy wondered how she dealt with it all. In his eyes, she was the strongest person in the world. From her beauty that was inside and out, to her strength to her caring and loving personality.
He stood up against the wall, watching as she sat in the middle of the bedroom floor. She leaned up against the bed and lifted her legs only using her legs.
The pain was evident on her face as she lifted her legs. She could feel pain shoot through her legs and feel pain from the ribs that were broken.
But the good thing is the pain wasn't as bad as before. It was slowly getting better and that's what kept Karma pushing through it.
Things will always get better.
Leaving Karma to work on her lower body, Kacy walked to the living room where Moesha was. Keegan was down for his nap and Moesha sat on the couch, doing her homework.
Kacy sat next to her just as the doorbell rang. "Ya expectin' somebody?" He asked Moesha. He smiled when she looked up at him and shrugged. "I'm jus' messing with you"
Standing up, Kacy opened the front door. To his surprise, it was Ashton. His face showed worry and anxiety. "Is Karma here? I heard what happened"
"You mean like before?" Kacy asked, referring to the time when he asked Karma for a organ for Afrika.
"No, this is different. That's my baby girl and I'd appreciate it if you let me speak to her'"
Looking over him, Kacy sighed and let Ashton in. He pointed towards the bedroom and Ashton quickly walked to the back.
Karma watched as the room door opened. She slowly stood up, groaning in pain and looked at her father in shock. She was really expecting something stupid to come from his mouth.
He walked over to Karma and weirdly, he hugged her. He hugged her tightly. And after awhile, she even started to feel something wet on her shoulder.
"Um, are you crying?"
Ashton pulled away and wiped his eyes "Karma, sweetie. I'm so sorry" he said sincerely. "I'm sorry for everything. For abandoning you, for getting married without telling you, for not caring about your personal issues or most importantly my grandson. I'm sorry for putting Afrika before you, I'm sorry for everything and most of all, being a horrible father"
Looking into his eyes, she could see the sincerity and how truthful he was "Why Ashton? What did I do wrong?"
"Nothing, that's the thing. It was never you or your actions. It was me, not being satisfied. But when I had time to think, realized how smart, beautiful and strong you are. I couldn't wish for a better daughter"
Karma started to tears up and fanned her eyes "Sorry, it's the hormones"
"Anoyher grandson from Kacy?"
Karma sighed "Not exactly" she sat on the bed and her dad sat next to her "It's from Kenton, Kacy's brother"
"Huh? Karma, w-"
"He r***d me" she interrupted. She knew why he didn't know and shr knew why he rushed over. Just hours before, Karma spoke with her mother for the fist time in awhile. She explained everything that has happened to her.
Except that she was pregnant by Kenton.
Her mother called Ashton and he started to finally feel the guilt if everything he put Karma through.
The look on Ashton's fact was one that couldn't be explained "Will you be able to watch the kids? Me and Kacy need to make a stop"
"Uh sure. I guess but w-"
Ashton stood up and walked out the room. Kacy was helping Moesha on the last math problem on her homework when he looked up at Ashton. "Wassup?"
"Come ride with me somewhere"
....
Pulling up to the maximum security mental institution, Kacy and Ashton exited the car. Loretta stepped from the car as well and the three of them walked inside. After being searched , the were led into a room.
It had no windows and only one door that locked from the outside. The were told to sit on the long steel bench and wait for the head security guard to enter the room.
"What's going on?" Loretta asked. She looked at Kacy "Did they hol' you here the last time you came?"
"No , they brought me ta' where Kenton was"
Almost an hour had past before the head of security walked into the room. He held a looked that showed how uninterested he was the everything that was going on.
That is, until he looked down at his clip board. He looked up again "I'm sorry for your loss b-'
"Our loss? What the hell y'all did to my son?" Loretta stood up.
"Another patient and Kenton got into an altercation which resulted in the death of your son. "
Loretta turned away from the guard, looking towards the wall. The tears welled up and started to fall as Kacy wrapped his arms around her.
Ashton rubbed Loretta's back, hoping to help her feel better within that moment but he knew that wasn't happening when her crying started to get louder by this second.
"Well what was the other patients name ?"
Before the security guard could answer Kacy's question, Karma called his phone. He answered on the first ring "Wassup mama?"
"Nothing, just calling. Where are you?"
"Ya pops, my momma and I stopped by the metal institution ta' see Kenton. But him and this otha patient got into it and he was killed"
"What? How could that even happen? It's called maximum security for a reason"
"Ion know baby, i-"
"Kacy, come home" she mumbled, interrupting him.
"Ya good? The kids straight? W-"
"We're ok, we're ok. But something isn't right about all this. I just feel weird. This feeling just came over me and-" she sighed "Just come home"
" Let me figure this s**t out g-"
"Remember what Jose said awhile back? Trust me when I say something isn't right? Everytime I try and stop you from doing something that doesn't feel right, you do it anyway and something bad happens. Trust me Kacy, come home" she said sternly.
"Damn ok" he chuckled "Mommy mode just came out. I'll be home, I'm leaving now"
Just like he said, Kacy started walking out with his mother and Ashton aside of him. The way out seemed longer than usual but when they came up to the exit door, Kacy looked to his left and stopped.
He squinted his eyes, hoping he didn't see what he swore he did. He shook it off and continued walking .
