Shocked about his arrival, confused about how he can tell and mumble those allegations. When I was put out on the witness stand, PO2 Drake was placed there and swore his oath of promise.
The other side’s prosecutor started smiling like he won a multi-lotto reward.
“What do you mean that the latter was lying?” the prosecutor first asked.
He cleared his throat. “An hour before Captain De’mea delivered her best friend, I was called by the accused for emergency purposes.”
No way!
Realizing the truth, I’m screwed, he’s the police that Denisse called that day for her daughter to be saved. With his presence, the murder act of Denisse will be pointed and my testimony of proving justifiable homicide will be in danger.
With this trembling truth, I can feel my throat getting dry. I started swallowing my saliva, my sweats started rushing. I felt cold, when he proved his allegations, I will be sentenced for lying.
There’s no way I’ll be put in jail!
“So you saw the defendant’s attempted r**e on the accused’s daughter?”
“No,” he plainly answered.
“What do you mean by that?”
The witnessed sighed. “As I reached the destination, he dashed away without notice.”
I am nervous, couldn’t take things that may soon bombed my conscience. I am, afraid.
The prosecutor suddenly faced the judge. “Your honor, with this man’s testimony, this is opposing the latter witness. The accused didn’t killed the victim on the same scene but rather, somewhere else. This is clearly in a field away from justifiable homicide but a murder. That’s all.”
With other issues centering this hearing, I doubt that this will turn things out into something I expected, I will be jailed if the decision was made.
What the court witnessed may bring Denisse into low charges or even none. With my pride to swallow, I have to go back to where I belong and leave what I have, things are not getting according to what I planned.
After the first trial, Denisse’s brother, the prosecutor called me. “We need to talk.”
On my peripheral vision, he’s staring at me.
“What is it?” I asked him.
He became silent until he mumbled his words. “Why did you lied in the courtroom?”
The glimpse of pain subsided on my chest. “I had to.”
“Denisse cared for people on her range, she’s never a storm on anyone she’s into. The freedom she possesses ever since, never failed to amaze me.”
When I saw his eyes, tears started flowing. “I m-missed my sister. How could you?”
The guilt ate me, like him, I was brought into sorrow and pain. “I-I’m sorry.”
“What you said will be against your wants, you lied and there’s a witness to see. Are you prepared for the consequences?”
I sighed and took a deep breath, calming my nerves to utter what I have to say. “I did my part to at least save my mess, I will be gone away in the city for good.”
His eyes questioned my aforementioned statement. “Are you leaving things in chaos? With your disappearance, the court will doubt your statement!”
I can feel his anger, it’s piercing my skin like arrows.
“It’s up to you now, I already drove their mindset to a higher percentage of success for Denisse,” I paused and gave him the phone number that I brought recently. “Call me when something goes wrong, keep me updated.”
He accepted what I gave, leaving him in irritation about what I decided. On the world where I live, there are things that I must prioritize more than friendship. A goal to keep going.
When the sun reached its peak, dark skies started covering the whole. I was about to walk on the subways to think when I saw the moon on its best.
“Oh no, it’s full moon,” I said in shock.
Too busy on things, the preparation that must be done never touched my schedules and plans. As the moonlight hit my skin, I can feel the sensation that I missed.
With the fact that I need things to fix and for no one to see, I jumped from my condo’s window. Behind it was a green forest covered in snow drops and above was a mountain I’m planning to hike.
I can feel my speed getting faster than usual. Flow of strong force embodied my body, the sensation was on its finest to not to feel it fully.
Minutes of running, my speed continue to brawl and upgrade. My body felt lighter, it’s like I’m flowing in the speed of light to travel.
Fangs started growing and the senses that I have grew stronger. Looking at my skin, most parts are covered with furs. As I ran to the fullest, I found myself running using my hands. Paws started forming, my body changed on its own.
With the same timing, I reached the summit with my form on its final. As I jumped and positioned myself, I hoof and released the greatest howl.
The moonlight bathed my body, glowing like gems on sunlight, my fur emphasized my form of beauty. My eyes can see wider, the smell of other race carried by the wind lingers on my nostrils.
Howls grew louder, smell of blood grew stronger. But unlike the rest, I am alone.
As I watched my fur, the reason why they chased me away from my tribe, from my pack that was lead by my father, it brought me in sorrow.
My eyes has the color of emerald, my fur’s a bright red mixed with silver white. With this appearance of mine, my father, the alpha never looked at me as his daughter.
The heredity and genes I acclaimed differs from our clan, they disowned me from being different.
After years of being away from my pack, it’s time to be back and clear things up. I want to be on my origin, I have to be back on my home since I was born.
After that night, I went back on my condo without minding my naked appearance.
When morning came, I immediately went to the hospital where Denisse is in coma. I rushed into her room and said my goodbyes, I have to go back on where things can offer me the most beneficial.
“I will catch up news, Denisse. If something goes wrong, I’ll save you with what I got.”
Later that day, I rushed into my condo when I smelled that someone’s tailing me. Not even nervous about who’s on my way, I can defend and strike my mindset in a minute without delay.
And so, I grabbed my bag. Put what’s important and rushed into the garage. When I felt the aura of watching, I opened my car and drove away.
Sunlight stroke my car’s window, it was tinted so the sunlight didn’t passed through. I am silently driving, while whomsoever is tailing me was not a bother in the first place. The stalker on my guess must be a detective, sent by someone because there’s a hint on them that I lied.
Hours of traveling and I reached my friend’s place. It’s a subdivision for elites and since I’ve been here many times, the guard let me through without any delay.
Road was polished like nails, green and artistic landscapes can be seen in line on every sides.
House number 01174, the guard that saw my car model opened the gate for me. Following my destined position, I put my car in line on my friend’s car collection, the enthusiast he has.
The front door opened on its own, when I entered, the maids on their jobs greeted me with respect.
“Good morning,” I answered with a smile. “Where’s Victor?”
“On his office, Ma’am,” one maid answered.
I nodded and walked upstairs. When I saw Victor’s paintings on the walls, Denisse’s enthusiast suddenly pierced on my mind. My footsteps can be heard on Victor’s gigantic house, the smell of air purifier made my nose in calm.
As I knocked on Victor’s office, a man on his 20’s opened the door, it was Dave, Victor’s best friend. When I let myself in, Victor on his attire is sitting on his swivel chair, he’s waiting.
“What brought you here, De’mea?”
I smiled and rushed to give him a taste of my fist.
“What was that for?!” he reacted while his hands are on his cheeks.
I smiled and gave him a smirk. “I need your help.”
“Was that how you ask for help?” I can see him in pain, with my inside thought, I’m laughing.
“I need information about the pack.”
Victor was a member of ours, he’s one of the commanders that leads men. His instinct was never been in the pack I lived on, he’s more a thinker of innovation and cities, with his best friend Dave, they lived and abandoned the pack to chase their dreams here in Paris.
With the question I asked, he became silent for minutes. I watched both Dave and Victor on their hesitations to tell, there’s something wrong with their eyes.
Without any more patience, I burst into irritation. “I need information, Victor!”
He looked at me with his eyes in tears, nervous about what he’ll tell. He couldn’t find his words but seconds after, his expression of pain brought him into action of telling.
“O-Our pack,” he paused and wiped his tears. “T-The pack was m-massacred.”
