HELEN AND I SETTLE down for our lunch, occupying ourselves with small talk and beginning to put together a guest list for the wedding
“Since it’s going to be held during a regular Sunday Mass,” I say, “we won’t have too much room for guests. I suspect most of the parish will turn out.”
“Well, it’s not like I have a lot of family. Just my Aunt Millie and my cousin Ricki. Oh, and my friend Susan from high school, we’ve kept in touch. I’d like them to be there.”
“Of course,” I say. “According to the Archbishop, we’re likely to have some dignitaries as well. The Papal Nuncio may attend, he says, along with a couple of cardinals and other Archbishops. He’s been contacted by American Catholic Television and Radio about broadcasting the Mass live.”
