13 Pelina ensured the storage room’s door was closed before she ventured between the crates and baskets creating a maze within its walls. Dust filled her nostrils as she brushed against the wood to find her way in the darkness. She kept the candle unlit, as the fire’s flickering could draw the attention of servants or guards to the seemingly unoccupied room, and only when she reached the far corner of the narrow room did a spark of flame by her will jump to the wick, offering meager light.
