Irtan smiled as Pelina disappeared into her room, and the pile of books in her hands wobbled when she tried to close the door behind her. A sense of pride washed over him when he thought of the young arcanist in training. She was coping with the new approach to magic surprisingly well. Once again he mused on Kamira’s choice, or rather what he guessed was following her instincts to make Pelina an ally. Had he not discovered the pact making when he had, Kamira would have had a very resourceful spy in the Towers. That made his thoughts wander toward the unruly arcanist once more.
