Fit For A King

Mariah's POV Pulling into Derek's house, I am just in shock. It's the most beautiful place I have ever seen. Derek’s home is massive. It’s surrounded by a huge Victorian gate and cream colored wall. The driveway is a half circle with a fountain in the middle. You know kind of like the houses you see in the movies. But only this isn’t the movies. This is my real life. I cannot believe it! Stella and I hold onto each other and smile like girls who just got asked to Prom taking in the scenery of our new home. Looking around, I notice there are a ton of security guards. Looks like Derek must have called in some reinforcements. To say I feel safe now would be an understatement. Kind of unsettling at the same time because Mitch would use security guards to keep me locked in the places we were staying sometimes on his business trips sometimes. I shake my head. Derek is not Mitch Mariah. He is better than Mitch I thought to myself.  The house had white pillars on the front of the house with a white fenced wrap around porch. Something like this has been my  dream house since I was younger. Going inside the house, I could see that it was immaculate. When you first open the door you see classic stairs that look like they are from the titanic. The living area is huge! It has the biggest television that I have ever seen. Looking across the hall I can see another living room with a huge fireplace. I cannot imagine it gets used much considering how it’s warm here all the time.  Derek ushered us to the next room which is a  huge dining room filled with antique china in dark oak china cabinets. There’s just so much detail in this room. So much older pieces of furniture and dishes that it makes the room come to life. Next we head to the kitchen which has a built in refrigerator in the wall; wall ovens, a huge sink, and dishwasher. Mitch and I had a nice condo apartment in Seattle but it was nothing like this. This is something you only see in dreams. This kind of house just doesn’t exist in my world or at least it hasn’t. But now it does and I don’t know how to take it in. I can see myself living here, cooking meals here, raising a family here. I shouldn’t get too comfortable. Derek saw the grim look on my face and grabbed my hand to lead me outside. I was astonished at what I saw next. A beautiful pool. It was 8-ball shaped with lounge chairs built in and a spa hot tub.  Adjacent to the pool is an archway shaped hedge that leads to a beautiful garden. Okay this really cannot be real. Someone pinch me. Someone wake me up. I do not live here. It is not possible. I need to wake up from this heavenly dream. I will be spending most of my time out here. I just know it. “You girls ready to see where you’ll be staying?” Stella and I both smile and say yes.  Derek leads us to the upstairs. The hallways remind me of a hallway you’d see at a palace except they are slightly updated with modern light fixtures. We head towards the end of the hall.  “Okay first I’m going to show you both my room just in case you need me for anything. Anything at all, day or night. “ “Okay,” I said smiling at him.  His room is gigantic. He has a Baldacchino with black and white curtains and covers. A ton of pillows and of course it’s made perfectly. He has a fireplace in his room too. Another huge television. I take it,  he watches a lot of TV, probably a lot of dirty movies,I giggle to myself. “What’s so funny?” Derek asked “Nothing, I just thought of something funny,” I blushed. Oops, guess I giggled out loud. “Well it’s good to hear you giggle. I love the way your face lights up when you do.” I put my head down and blushed.  I just can't get over how big his room is. He has a walk in closet that looks like it could be a bedroom itself and door that leads to a huge bathroom.  It’s so big, it’s fit for a king.
