Chapter Thirty-One Sally was terrified. She did not deserve to be involved in all this, but she was, and Chap hated that. These people played by a set of rules of their own making, and their tactics were dirty. He remembered the feelings that surged through him when he temporarily took Bozo, the mysterious Jones’s hired help, out of the game. He hadn’t wanted to stop until the bastard was dead. They were feelings not unlike those he remembered from the war, a lethal cocktail of fear, anger and hatred, fuelled by adrenalin. He had hoped such feelings were long gone, never realising until now just how close they had remained to the surface over the intervening years. He explained everything to Sally.
