Carter was whispering my name over and over, squeezing my hand tight. I clutched at my stomach and let out a short cry of pain. Carter's eyes were wide with panic as he scanned the halls as if a magic stretcher would suddenly appear.
"Take me to Anne, the medical house," I bit down my screams, using all my energy to focus on anything else but the pain.
The guards watched silently, unsure if they should intervene, and we stepped past them. Carter wrapped his arm under my shoulders and slowly walked me towards the tiny house at the edge of the field. I was going to have a baby. The realization hit me harder than a ton of bricks. I was going to become a mother. Carter was going to become a father. Reaching the medical house, Anne placed me down on a bed before whisking away to get supplies.
