"Come on." I urged Lucy to hurry as I stood at the bottom of the stairs. My eyes were moving back and forth with impatience as she closed the gate behind her. Lucy stuffed the keys in the pocket of her dress. "We have to hurry," she stepped past me on the steps. "What about the dog?" My gaze dropped to the sitting canine below us. Lucy sighed and waved me up. I leaped past her, my hand resting on the closed door at the top of the staircase. "Come here," she used the same high pitched tone, and once again the dog obeyed. I stared at the dog as it sat on the steps, disgusted by the drool dripping from its mouth. "We need to head to the gardens,” she whispered, “we can make our way over the fence.
