The next two days went by in frustrating slowness for Raerdel. While she no longer felt the pain or the convulsions, she was very aware that Sin now did. She could not feel his emotions, but she could hear him shouting across the hall and had been told by Collette that he was having reactions to the magic. When Raerdel had enough, she stormed next door and opened it only to have Sin’s aunt push her back out into the hallway and lock the door firmly in her face.
Sin’s aunt spoke from behind the door. “You cannot be near him right now. You will only worsen the condition.”
“Well, isn’t there something I can do?” Raerdel called impatiently from the hallway.
“No, there isn’t,” was the only reply, and then the shouting and banging sounds began again.
