Olivia, Seraphine’s younger sister, didn’t know what to do after Margareth was sent to prison. She had always been used to having everything she needed provided by either Margareth or Seraphine. Now, she lived alone in a house that was once occupied by three women.
The money she had was already running low. If her plan from last night had succeeded, she and Margareth would have obtained a considerable amount of money. But unfortunately, luck was not on her side.
Seraphine had been so cruel to her—to her own biological mother.
“Damn it! I only have a little money left. It’s not even enough for me to enjoy myself—hell, it’s hard just to afford food! Sera, you’re really heartless!” Olivia clicked her tongue in frustration as she looked at the few remaining bills in her wallet and her mother’s.
Olivia looked confused about what she should do. She couldn’t just let go of her glamorous lifestyle, yet the source of money from Sera—or even Margareth—was no longer within her reach.
“Should I try again? Go see Sera, apologize, and beg to live with them? That actually sounds like a great idea. If she agrees, I can live in a luxurious house, enjoy all the facilities, eat well… or even take Mr. Ethan away from my tacky older sister!”
“That’s right, it’s a good plan. I need to make Sera forgive me first, and then slowly steal Mr. Ethan from her. I don’t believe a man like him could truly like someone as unfashionable as Sera.”
Olivia kept muttering, devising a cunning plan to achieve her happiness, not caring who might get hurt in the process.
However, Olivia had no idea that everything she was planning would only remain a fantasy that would never come true.
At that very moment, Ethan, Seraphine, and the Adamson family were gathered to hold a press conference.
Seraphine had agreed to be officially introduced to the public as Ethan Adamson’s wife—the CEO and largest shareholder of Adamson Corporation. Not only that, Seraphine and Ethan would also address the issue of Margareth, explaining why Seraphine had sent her to prison.
There were, of course, troubling questions directed at Seraphine.
Why? Wasn’t Margareth her biological mother?
How could a daughter be so heartless?
“Are you ready, sweetheart?” Ethan asked.
“I’m just nervous. Other than that, I’m ready—if you don’t mind them knowing everything about me. As for me… I don’t care. From the beginning, I just didn’t want you—or your family—to feel ashamed because of me,” Seraphine said.
Ethan held Seraphine’s hand tightly, looking at her with affection. “Don’t worry about anything. Everything will be fine. My mother, my father, and I—we actually prefer not to hide anything. Whether it’s good or bad, people will find out and judge for themselves. We know you’re a good person, and they will come to know that too—who you are and why things happened the way they did. Do you understand? For now, just focus on yourself, on our marriage, on Mom and Dad… and maybe someday, we’ll have an adorable child.”
Seraphine laughed at Ethan’s words, especially at the thought of having a child. It had crossed her mind before. It wasn’t that she intended to delay it—but was she truly ready to have a child right now?
“Thank you. Just like you said, I was worried. But seeing how optimistic all of you are about me… I hope you won’t regret it,” Seraphine said.
“Of course not, dear. We will never regret it. Seraphine, I will always be by your side. I am your mother now and always will be,” Teresa said.
“We are your family now,” Ethan added, while George simply nodded with a smile, showing his agreement with his wife and son.
There was nothing wrong with trusting what they believed was right. Seraphine was a good woman and a perfect match for Ethan. They were certain that together, Ethan and Seraphine would build a happy family, even if there were obstacles to overcome—because those were simply tests they had to face.
The time for the press conference had finally come. Arthur began by speaking first, giving directions and setting the rules that everyone had to follow for the sake of order and comfort. Then, when the moment arrived, Ethan delivered his speech, announcing that he was already married to the woman beside him.
“Our wedding wasn’t grand. It was just the two of us, witnesses, and a priest. At first, my wife didn’t know who I was—my identity as a CEO. But Sera accepted me with all my flaws. It wasn’t until later that I revealed who I truly was and introduced her to my family. As you might expect, Sera felt unworthy—but that’s exactly what makes her worthy.”
“We helped each other through our lowest moments. Sera came into my life when I felt the world was cruel, and I did the same for her. That’s why we chose to truly be together—not because of wealth, status, or anything else, but because of sincerity. That’s all I need to share with you, so there will be no more negative speculation about my wife.”
Ethan explained everything clearly, hoping no one would think that Sera had seduced or trapped him into marriage.
“Then, regarding the viral video—about Miss Sera abandoning or neglecting her biological mother after marrying you?” one of the reporters asked about the case that was currently trending.
“It’s not just that I neglected or abandoned her,” Seraphine said firmly. “I was the one who sent her to prison.”
Seraphine’s statement caused an uproar among the reporters, who immediately began whispering, wondering what she meant—what could have happened that led her to imprison her own mother?
