Chapter11

“What exactly happened, Ethan? Why do they keep bothering her?” Teresa looked deeply worried about Seraphine after hearing about the backlash in the media, caused by someone who had made the incident in the café go viral. “They’re used to profiting from Sera. And after finding out she married a wealthy man, they want to keep taking advantage of her. Margareth is truly foolish for not properly reading all the agreements. That’s why Sera’s mother is now in prison.” “Oh my God… I’m sure that even though Sera has cut ties, she still has feelings for her. After all, Margareth is her biological mother,” Teresa said regretfully, disapproving of Margareth’s selfishness. She had never appreciated Seraphine’s hard work, nor had she ever been willing to give her even the smallest amount of love and attention. “How can a mother be so heartless?” Ethan nodded weakly. He truly couldn’t bear seeing Sera’s condition—his wife—and the behavior of a mother who had gone far beyond limits, never giving Seraphine the love that other mothers would. Ethan was certain that Seraphine had always longed for Margareth’s affection, to the point of being willing to do anything for it. Ethan now vowed to protect Seraphine from everything, hoping she would find happiness in the future. As for his feelings toward her, he was certain they had grown with time. Love that blossoms after marriage turns out to be far more beautiful, Ethan thought. “What about that video? Have you had it taken down?” George asked. “I’ve asked Arthur to handle it—to find out who uploaded it to the media. It didn’t come from any official source, so it’s quite difficult, especially since we have no control over the public,” Ethan explained. George nodded in understanding. “There should still be a way… or you could officially reveal who your wife is.” “That’s right. What’s the point of hiding it if it will only cause problems in the future, Ethan? Seraphine will understand if you tell her gradually. It’s one way to improve both your marriage and her life. Once everything is out in the open, people will understand why Sera has conflicts with her mother and sister.” Teresa firmly believed that things would get better moving forward. Letting everyone know the truth behind the issue, even if it was complicated, would allow the public to judge for themselves what was right or wrong. Sera and the others could only try to live happily without conflict. “I’ll try to talk to Sera. I hope she’ll understand,” Ethan said, making both his parents smile in relief. “I’m going to see her.” “Yes, go and be with your wife, Ethan. Your father and I will always pray for the best for both of you,” Teresa and George said with warm smiles. Ethan had only just begun his marriage, yet he was already facing a heavy conflict between a mother and her child. But no matter what, they could not forbid Ethan from marrying Seraphine despite her troubled family background. They knew that only Ethan could choose his own happiness—just like when he chose Claire. They had strongly disapproved at the time, but Ethan had loved her deeply, until he eventually saw Claire’s true nature for himself—a woman who was not good for him. Ethan went to see Sera, who had already freshened up. He smiled, having expected her to look sad or to be crying. He felt relieved. “Are you alright?” Ethan asked, sitting on the edge of the bed as he looked at Sera, who was standing in front of the mirror. Sera turned to look at Ethan, who had helped her so much. She smiled warmly. This kind man was truly her husband. She felt grateful to God for giving Ethan to her. “As long as I have you, I’ll always be alright. Ethan, I don’t know how to thank you.” “Hey, sweetheart, you’re my wife. It’s only right that I protect you. Don’t say things like that, okay? Come here, hug me. I’m yours—never doubt that. Everything I do is for your happiness,” Ethan said, asking Seraphine to sit on his lap. Without any hesitation or shyness, Seraphine stepped closer and sat on Ethan’s lap. She wrapped her arms around his neck, looking at him with love and gratitude. “I will never doubt you, Ethan. I promise I will never leave you or betray you. But if you ever want me to go, I will… I’ll walk away from you,” Seraphine said. Hearing that, Ethan pulled her into a tight embrace. “I’d be a fool to ask a woman as beautiful and captivating as you to leave, Sera. I will always be by your side.” Seraphine smiled. “I’m not captivating, Ethan. With all these scars on my body? Oh, come on, don’t talk nonsense!” “Hey, you’re ruining the romantic moment, Sera. I was supposed to get a kiss from you!” Ethan complained, making Seraphine laugh before she kissed him deeply and passionately. The moment soon turned into yet another beautiful night. They made love until exhaustion finally overtook them, and they fell asleep in each other’s arms. Meanwhile, in a luxurious villa, a beautiful woman stared at the news with irritation—yet she also laughed, seeing how far beneath her rival seemed. “I’m better. My family background is far superior—so why did you marry her?” “Ethan, I know you never truly loved her. Marrying her? You only wanted to make me regret it, didn’t you? I—I was foolish, but all of this is your fault for hiding your true identity. Now you’re mine again, because you were never truly anyone else’s. That woman will only destroy you!” “Wait for me, Ethan. I’ll be there soon!” “No one will stand in my way!”
