Wesley POV
Wyatt and I went back to the pack-house after linking Dex to let them know to head back as well. Once we reached the tree line back to the forest, we shifted and gave Knight and Knox control. We had not gone for a run together in a few years and this felt like old times.
I have a feeling we will be doing more than running more together now. Knight hinted to me.
He was right. We share a mate if she accepts us.
What if she rejects us Knight? Panic ensued.
Our mate will NOT reject us! He left no room for other possibilities in this matter.
Knox nipped at my heels. Knight had slowed his pace, feeling my panic and rattled nerves.
Wesley…stop panicking or I will block you. Warned Knight.
Give me a break! I'm- Knight semi blocked me. I could see and hear through him but he had control.
What is going on Knight? My brother asked, concern obvious.
Wesley is freaking out about our mate not accepting us. So I blocked him. He responded flatly.
Knight, give him a break. Unblock him or I will bite your tail.
Wyatt and his annoying tricks. He would always nip at me, to get me out of my head, when we were pups. Knight underestimated him, not believing he would do it. But Wyatt never disappoints. He nipped at Knight's hind legs and tail as we ran through the lush forest.
Dodging Knox's somewhat playful bites while retaliating, we missed Wyatt edging closer. Soon we were tumbling towards the back of the packhouse. Grayson spotted us and came over with some shorts.
"Alphas, let's not scare the she-wolves." He joked, throwing us some shorts. I could see a few she-wolves eyeing our naked forms.
"I'm sure you scare them enough, Grayson." Wyatt taunted back. They both laughed.
Dex was still serious, almost brooding. I wonder what that was about? If anyone should be in a mood, it was Wyatt and I. Our mate just slipped through our fingers with no clue how to find her.
"Wes, are you cool with that?" Wyatt asked. I must have zoned out again. I glanced between the guys and nodded.
"Yea sure." I agreed without confirming what they were talking about.
"So we will leave around 6pm, after your meeting with Alpha Steven." Wyatt agreed and I nodded. Dex remained indifferent.
What did I just agree to?
I knew your ass wasn't listening. We are going into the neutral city about 30 minutes from the border between packs. Grayson said some drinks could cool us off from earlier, but I figured it could be a good place to start looking for our mate.
Good looking out Brother. She is obviously hiding. If she is trying to lay low, she might hide out there.
The afternoon went by. I was barely able to keep my focus on what Steven was saying. Wyatt, on the other hand, was engaged in the conversation about patrol strategy, shift changes and overlapping patterns. I chimed in every now and then when Wyatt noticed Steven catching on to my lack of focus. We eventually agreed on an optimal strategic approach. The warriors we came with were supporting the pack patrol, so they could link us if needed.
We met with our warriors after talking with Steven. They were updated on the patrol shifts and the groups they would be with. Afterwards, we freshened up and met with Grayson in the front of the packhouse. We were all dressed in denim jeans and button-up shirts. All four of us filed into his truck and headed out.
We got to a bar lounge spot that Grayson approved of. We headed in, earning lustful looks from women around us. Dex seemed to loosen up a bit. Grayson loved the attention. Wyatt smiled at a few, but that was my brother, friendly and flirtatious. Pity these women did not know that he would never go any further with them.
Knight was agitated the entire ride there but remained towards the back of my mind, pacing.
Two ladies, humans, came over to take our drink orders. Since when does it take two people to get an order for four people? Looking up at them, cleavage spilling over their shirts, I groaned inwardly. So desperate. One was drawn to Grayson. They seemed quite familiar. The other hovered over Wyatt, who mentioned that his friend Dex was interested and he could not do that to him. She had no issue shifting her cleavage over to Dex, who was enjoying the view.
I spotted Wyatt, scanning the room from time to time. His eyes darted towards the window.
Do you feel that too, Brother? I asked.
Yea. I thought it was just me, but I think she is close.
There was barely any scent from earlier. How do we track her? Knight is going crazy.
I know. Knox is on edge too. We will find her Wes. We have to.
Wyatt POV
We ordered food and a couple rounds of drinks. Dex and Grayson were pretty occupied by the waitresses. I'm sure they are getting laid tonight. A hint of jealousy hit me. I have gotten no action in quite a while.
Knox has been on edge since our drive to this city. I could feel how antsy Knight was too. We needed some air. I left cash on the table to cover the damage and linked the guys that we were going to get some air. Wes and I went for a walk. If we were back at the packhouse, we would have gone for a run to cool down our wolves, but that was not the best idea in this area.
We walked by a couple of places, each of us in our own thoughts. Knox was pushing to come forward as I struggled to push back. I heard Wes grunt and knew he was having the same problem. Our mate must be close, but where?
I glimpsed a puff of white-grey mist behind some trees in a small park area. I stalked off toward the area. She vanished in a similar puff earlier. Wes was hot on my heels.
We split up to cover both sides, she was not disappearing from us again. Wolf speed and stealth came in handy at this moment. I saw her dig in her bag and chug something from a small bottle. What was she up to?
She sensed us but was more focused on the direction Wes was coming from. I watched as her movements slowed and a wave left her body. She was obviously powerful. I got closer to her but she did not respond to my advancement. Strange.
The wave seemed to rush back to her body and she became aware of my proximity. She was about to run off when I gripped her forearm from behind. If she tried to vanish, she would have to take me with her. I did not care where we would go, but I knew I was never letting her go.
Sia POV
Arriving just outside the city between Moon Stone and Gold Moon Pack, I quickly blended in with the locals. I could only sense humans. They were so clueless as to other beings living among them, and how low on the food chain they fell. I admired how carefree they were. Ignorance was truly bliss. What you were ignorant of, could not harm you, in theory. Sometimes I wish my life was that simple.
There were little shops, a few bars, stores and what looked like mom and pop restaurants. The food smell permeated the streets, making me realize just how hungry I was.
After the run-ins at both packs today and the close call with my mates, I was ready for some good food and a long relaxing bath. I needed to figure out the best way to approach my mates. I needed to know what kind of Alphas they were. I was not about to throw meat at two vicious wolves, myself being the meat. Nope!
It was getting late and I refused to sleep outdoors. This was a human town, so shifting into Jinx was not an option until we got back to the woods. The street lights were on and electric signs shone through the store windows. Just ahead, I saw a man get out of a car pulling his suitcase into a building. I ran ahead to see where he was heading and found that it was a bed and breakfast. It looked more like a cozy little house, but it would have to do for the night. I walked in just as the man headed down a little passageway inside.
"Good evening ma'am? Will you be staying the night?" Asked an older gentleman with a smile.
"I do not have reservations. Do you have a room for the night?" I inquired.
He nodded and smiled. There was a glint in his eyes that seemed off.
"Do you have luggage with you ma'am?" He said, eyeing my small shoulder bag. I shook my head no and he sighed.
"We have one room left for the night. Business has been slow lately. I'll let you have it for the night."
I offered him money but he refused it. If business was slow, why was he refusing payment? He did not know me but was eager to help.
"Please sir. I have no problem paying. You are too kind." I said, pushing the money back towards him when he shook his head, smiled and handed me the keys.
"There is no such thing as being too kind. Your room is down the hall, last door on the right. I will send up some dinner. My wife made a mean pot roast."
"Thank you very much. I truly appreciate it. " I walked off down the hall, wondering if all humans were this friendly and kind.
The room was on the smaller side but cozy. A small closet just by the entrance door, leading into a room with what looked like a queen-sized bed and a little TV. There was a window looking out onto the street and some other local attractions. I checked to see if they could open, just to be safe. I pulled the curtains after closing the blinds. The door to the bathroom was ajar but what was there made me very happy, a tub. I could use a good soak after being in wolf form for most of the day.
I wasted no time stripping down and getting the tub filled. As the water rose, I added some of the bubblebath condiments that were in the room and watched the bubbles form. The smell was a mixture of lavender, sage and something herbal. Just as I sat down enjoying the feel of the warm water washing over my skin, my mind drifted back to my mates while my hands slowly travelled along my wet skin.
I was amazed that one of my mates could sense me in the tree, even with my scent masked. He would not move from the tree. I wanted to whisk away so badly but Jinx was going crazy from finally having her mate so close. She got a whiff of the sweet, sultry musk scent mix and it took everything in me to fight against her from pouncing on him. Then we picked up another sweet smokey musk scent as another wolf approached. Two mates?
Two mates. Two Alpha mates. This could go either way. I wanted to hurl myself at them, but this could be detrimental to my whole agenda. I could not let that happen. While Jinx was distracted by the thought of having two mates, I took control and whisked out to the edge of the clearing. That was when I got a better look. My mates were delicious.
Sweet musky mate had the sexiest hazel eyes, the most inviting plump lips atop broad muscular shoulders. He was tall and would tower over me easily. His arms and chest were chiselled and sizzling. I felt my core tighten and small beads of sweat slid down his stomach before disappearing below his V line. If this was the mate bond, Goddess help me.
I loosened my hair and sank lower into the tub as I spread my legs a little, allowing the warm water to wash over my core. Trailing my fingers gently along my lips as I reminisced on how intoxicating his scent was. I cursed myself for wanting him so much. With my eyes closed, I could feel tingles on my skin as he caressed it. I felt his lips on my neck, ears, shoulders and his fingers danced over my stomach and stopped at the mount between my legs.
My core muscles spasmed in need. I could hardly wait for his fingers to work their magic. I put my hand over his and slid his expert fingers back and forth, combing the outside of my entrance while teasing my c**t. I was faintly aware of the splashing sounds as I thrashed about in the tib. His thumb pressed gently on my c**t while he slipped a digit inside. My walls were clenched around his expert finger exploring my hole until he found a spot that jolted me upward. My grip on the tub tightened as I chased my release. This feeling was intense. I was so close. Just a bit more.
KNOCK. KNOCK KNOCK.
I jolted up in the tub on alert. Who was knocking on my door? Perfect timing! Sarcasm laced my thoughts. I sat there not wanting to relinquish the need and desire that was simmering down.
“Room service!” Called a gruff voice from outside the room.
I remained quiet but astral projected to the wall by the front door. The smell hit me and I could hear two distinct voices on the other side of that door whispering. Jinx was alert and I knew it was time to go. I merged and tiptoed out the tub.
"Can you leave it outside please? Thank you!" I yelled from the bathroom. The silence that followed must mean they heard me.
I jumped into joggers, a sweater and trainers. I threw my phone in and slinged the bag across my shoulder, then I heard creaking sounds outside my door. They were coming in. I whisked out without thinking where I was headed.
It was late and the city was dying down. I watched hidden in a small park I passed by earlier. Obviously, I was being followed, but how did they find me? I need to get out of this city. I dug into my bag and grabbed another vial and downed it.
We need to find our mates, Sia. They can keep us safe. Jinx nudged, trying to take control, to go seek out her Alphas.
Jinx NOT now!. We need to get out of here.
They are close, Sia. I can sense them. Let's go to them, they will protect us.
How can you be sure they will? We haven't even met them!
My ears peeked. We were not alone. Jinx was on edge, awashed with anxiety, which was unlike her. Whoever it was, was too close for me to teleport. Goosebumps flooded my skin. Their auras were strong and I knew exactly who they were.
I closed my eyes, sensing where they were. One on either side of me, not too far ahead. I projected myself to the one on the left.
"Why are you following me?!" I growled, as he grabbed me.
He looked down at me, eyes midnight with his hands wrapped around my wrist. I smiled slyly at him, realizing who he was - Whiskey musk guy. As he was about to say something, I blew him a kiss tauntingly and projected into my body. Feeling my body and consciousness become whole again, I prepared to haul my ass when I felt strong hands grip my forearm. Sparks erupted along where he touched like a waterfront on July 4th. Oh s**t.
"Not so fast MATE." Growled vanilla musk guy behind my ear.
"Well done brother." Smirked Whisky Musk Guy in front of me.
My skin was on fire. Every nerve in my body came alive. My head was fuzzy and my focus left the building. Their scents were intoxicating and I was completely wrapped up in them. This was a thousand times better than I imagined.
I could feel his breath on my neck from behind, causing me to lean into him, tilting my head against his chest. His hands were firm on mine, almost like he feared that I would disappear again.
Caught between two Alphas, eyes piercing my skin, breath fanning the side of my face, my knees felt weak. I need to get my bearings together. Jinx was lost among her mates but I needed to get out of there. I tried pulling away from the striking hazel eyes that rimmed with emerald green as they scanned my body, drinking me in. Goddess, they were so addicting.
Enough Sia! I scolded myself, pulling out of the trance.
Shifting my weight from one leg to the other, I tried to pull away again, with no success.
“Are you two going to keep me here against my will? This will not work out for you.” I provoked them, earning a growl from each.
“Fiesty little mate. Trying to run away from us again?” He asked, gently stroking behind my ears to the crook of my neck with his nose.
I leaned into him more, exhaling. My head tilted to the side, giving him more access, revelling in the sensation. I felt him smile into my neck as he pecked his way up and down, snaking his hand around my waist.
Mr. Whiskey Musk Guy stepped closer to me, stroking my cheek. I melted into his palm and he released a lustful growl. He was pressed to the front of me, dipping his nose into the other side of my neck.
I was the meat in their sandwich. My core clenched and spasmed, feeling their impressive aroused manhood pressing into my navel as well as against my ass. I reached behind me, pulling Vanilla Musk mate closer. I could feel moisture settle between my legs. I scraped my nails against the thigh of his jeans, earning another toe-curling growl. Our arousal wrapped around us.
"Your scent is off. Why are you masking your scent, Mate?" Gruffed out Vanilla musk guy, never stopping his ministrations. This was torture.
They both stiffened, breaking the mate bond trance that we were in before my lips had a chance to betray me. I looked up at both of them, seeing their eyes glazed over, and knew they were mind-linking with someone.
"Rogues were spotted in the city. We need to go." Whisky Guy grunted out, lifting me into his arms and bolted out of the park.
If they were the same rogues that were after me, this could get messy.
Shit.
