Aaliyah
A strange sound wakes me up in the middle of the night. I look over at Kai who is sound asleep. I hear it again, it's a whisper, but I can’t make out the words. I feel a pull so strong; I follow it out of the room and down the stairs as quietly as possible. I walk barefoot through the house, my mind screaming danger, but my body not caring. I walk to the door and slowly open it peering outside at the night sky. A shiver erupts through me. My body keeps moving, following the whispers out into the night. I walk down the path leading to the city and veer off into the forest beside it. The whispering gets louder the farther I walk into the forest, calling out to me. My need to find it near unbearable now. A cool wind blows through the air causing me to shiver and goosebumps to raise on my skin. I can sense a presence in the air, it feels dark, cold, dangerous. I stop and look around, the dark presence whirls around me making me nauseous and dark mist begins to penetrate the air around me, circling me, whispering to me. I put my arm out to touch it and it curls around my wrist and up my arms. My skin under it warms as it surrounds my entire body, swirling everywhere, not leaving a single inch of my body feel left out. A calmness overtakes me, and I close my eyes savoring the warmth and contentment I feel with it circling my body. I hear the whispers in my ears now, trying desperately to make out the words. That when I hear it. “It’s time to wake up my queen, you have been asleep far too long, the truth awaits you by my side.” With that, the mist suddenly disappears, returning the air to normal and breaking me out of my daze. I blink, quickly looking around, trying to understand what those words could mean and what the hell that even was. I turn and head back to the pack house in confusion. I open the door to the pack and make my way up the stairs to my room. It’s late, and I need to get some rest and put this strange event out of my head because the more I think about it, the more confused I become.
…..
The next morning, I wake up alone in bed with a note on Kai’s pillow, “had an emergency meeting, see you at breakfast beautiful”. I smile at the note and get out of bed and head to the closet to get dressed. After brushing my teeth, finding my shoes and taming my curls, I head down to the kitchen for breakfast. It is really nice not to have to hunt for food every morning, but Nyx misses it badly. Breakfast is already waiting on the counter for me when I get there. Well, waiting for everyone, because I have never seen so much food in my life. Stacks and stacks of pancakes, mounds of bacon, fried eggs, scrambled eggs, sausages, toast; my belly growls loudly as I grab a plate and pile it high. My eyes scan the kitchen for Kai, and I look down in disappointment when I don’t see him. A hand touches my shoulder and I turn to find Jason smiling at me. “It’s good to see you eating this morning,” he comments, nodding at my plate. I smile back at him before taking my seat at the table and shoving a bite of food in my mouth. Jason joins me at the table, grabbing his own plate and filling it and sitting beside me. “Are you feeling any better? I mean, I almost don’t recognize you in human form.” I laugh, putting my fork down, “I trust Nyx, and her judgment, almost more than I trust my own. She is my best friend.” We eat in silence for a moment before he speaks again, “Alpha Kai wants you to train with the pack from now on.” I raise my eyebrows at him, “of course, it’s smart, we have a war to prepare for, and who knows when the enemy will strike,” I say, before getting up and taking my plate to the sink. James follows me, putting his plate in the sink as well, “Well, go get into your training gear, I will wait for you here and we can go together.” I nod and jog out of the kitchen and up to my room. I skim through all of the clothes Kai had delivered for me and finally find something suitable for training. I pulled on the legging shorts that were much too short for my liking and a sports bra. I looked in the mirror and pulled my hair up into a lose bun leaving a few curls to frame my face. I can’t help but notice my figure, of course this accents my body and shows all of my curves and round ass. I guess I never realized just how nice my figure is. I leave the room running back down the stairs to Jason. “Okay I’m ready”. Jason looks me up and down before shaking his head and muttering something about guys not being able to focus. I smirk at him, “lead the way Jason”. I follow him down to the training grounds, wondering what kind of training they do as I have never been in a pack before. Walking into the field, I immediately realize that all the warriors are men, oh and that all eyes are on me as I walk in to join them. I stay in wolf form so much; I doubt they even know who I am. Some of the warriors are whistling as I walk by them, eyeing me up and down with lust in their eyes. I can already sense that I am going to have a blast showing them what I can do. I take my place at the end of the line, just as Beta Axel starts talking. “Today we will do some demonstrations for our new warrior, show her what we are made of, and show her what we expect in each form of fighting. When is is comfortable enough to join us, we will see what she is made of.” Axel smirks in my direction. He knows exactly what I am capable of, he can’t wait to see this. I watch on the sidelines for a while, studying their moves, studying their stances, their weaknesses. About halfway through training, I stand up and walk to Axel, “I’m ready, who am I facing?” “Who do you want to face? He asks, smiling at me. I look out over the warriors again, Jessie, he seemed to be the most skilled warrior here. All of the others seemed not to want to go against him. I point at Jessie and Axel’s smile widens, “somehow, I knew you would choose him.” He blows a whistle that is hanging around his neck, and all fighting stops. “It looks like our new warrior has chosen to try out her skills against Jessie. Let us all watch and see what she is made of”. Jessie smirks at me as I walk to the center. His eyes drag up and down my body and the lust behind them is unmistakable. “The rules are simple, don’t die,” Axel says before blowing his whistle again, and the fight starts. Jessie immediately launches himself at me and I dodge effortlessly, giving his upper back a flurry of hard punches on his back, making him fall face first into the dirt. He jumps up quickly shaking himself off and grins at me before coming after me again. I block a flurry of his punches and kick his legs out from under him, taking him to the ground again. He’s getting angry I can see it. I step closer to him, “stop underestimating me and give me a damn fight,” I growl at him. His eyes turn hard before he shifts into his wolf. He is much smaller than Kai, but still way bigger than my wolf. A smile graces my lips, Nyx begs to be let out, but I hold her in for a little while longer. Jessie charges me gnashing his teeth at me, his teeth pierce my skin on my forearm, and I wince lightly before using my hands and grabbing his jaws pulling up until I hear a click that has him whining. He backs away quickly; I can see his jaw healing. He lunges at me again and this time I let Nyx out. She catches him midair and tackles him to the ground, biting at his chest. He roars in pain before using his hind legs to kick me off of him. Nyx lands on her feet and circles him. He snarls at her and lunges, landing on her chest and knocking the wind out of her. He uses his claws to rip at her chest and she howls in pain, causing Axel and Jason to step forward, prepared to end this if they have to. Nyx whines trying to break the hold he has on her. I feel something inside me and Nyx switch. She snarls a warning at him that he doesn’t heed. Our fur starts glowing, a black and purple mist illuminating from it. Jessie flies off of me and hits a wall way in the distance, going through it he lay motionless on the ground. Nyx slowly walks up to him, ready to end this fight, end him when Jason steps forward. “Come on leyah, don’t do this, this isn’t you......? Your eyes are red and black... Nyx shakes her read roughly trying to rid the images that are popping up in her brain. Trying to take control from the darkness that consumed her. Nyx starts to whine softly at Jason, as if asking him to help her. She can tell he notices by the look of pity on his face. She starts to slowly calm down focusing on his words. One of the other warriors jump toward her still human, “I told you people she was cursed, a bad omen. I told you we had to turn her in. You all laughed at me, or just plain ignored me. “Do you see the darkness that lingers in her eyes? The signs of good fighting evil? She prefers to be her beast, she holds darkness in her eyes, we just witnessed her trying to kill one of our own during training. We need to end her now!” Nyx snaps out of her trance and snarls at him, walking toward him as if in a trance. He backs away quickly, but not quickly enough, she leaps at him, grabbing him by the throat as he tries to shift. She bites down hard before she hears a growl from behind them. Kai’s wolf, Adrien stood there. Nyx whined but didn’t back down. Adrien growls loudly at us and we struggle not to submit to him. Nyx growls and launches at him, breaking the the tiny bit of control he made her feel, Adrien rolls me away from him with his hind legs. Quickly standing, he attacks quickly grabbing my neck with his teeth and bringing me roughly to the ground. She shoots him off of her with a blast power sending him flying away from her. Nyx staggers a little because of her neck wound. watching him struggle to get up and has the overwhelming urge to go finish him off, but instead she turns and runs away from the pack house. She wasn’t running to anywhere in particular, just somewhere far away from her mate. I was confused as I couldn’t control Nyx anymore, Nyx just had a blood lust, one that all of a sudden became so hard to control. We ran for hours until we were sure we were out of his territory completely before slowing to a walk. She walked until she found a small place hiding behind a waterfall to sleep in. I try once again to talk Nyx into letting me shift, but she is distant, it’s like a dark cloud is surrounding her. Taking a deep breath, I give up for the night. I’m so tired I can’t think straight, and I need to be ready to learn how to control this darkness inside of me.
