Chapter Twenty Two

I felt so good now that Mel was here with Lucas, I was still overwhelmed and scatter brained at the thought of staying here with Tristan, was it what I wanted? Was I really willing to be Luna that’s if we were even accepted by the elders, when we were walking around talking to the pack members earlier I felt good standing next to Tristan his pack loved him and where willing to allow me to join their pack because of that I was in awe of Tristan he handled everything so well, took everything in his stride he was so calm and collected where as I was still a mess over finding out that he was my mate, I fancied a chat with Mel alone I went to go and find out if she had a moment, I went to the room that me and Tristan sorted for them earlier I knocked lightly on the door “its me” I whispered the door opened a crack and Mel was there “oh good thank god its you I’ve been hoping you would come by” Mel peered around the door looking anxious “what's up” I asked her concerned everything seemed fine earlier I walked into the room and took a seat on the bed Mel coming to sit next to me I guessed she was alone as I couldn’t see or hear Lucas in the room, “oh Haze my heads just a mess, he’s my mate! I cant cope with this he’s all in love with me straight away and wants to be around me all the time and I just need a minute to process everything its not the same for us is it?” she sighed lying back on the bed I lay back with her “I’ve been feeling the same” I told her honestly “its so much so fast!” Mel exclaimed “it is its just bam you too are together forever and its like I don’t get a choice, I mean I really like Tristan don’t get me wrong he’s amazing and handsome and such a good Alpha but I mean would I have chosen to be with an Alpha under normal circumstances? no I wouldn’t the pressure to be this polite wise girl it unreal but I can’t even think about leaving him now I just need some space I think like you” I sighed heavily “shall we go for a walk?” Mel asked me “yeah lets go we will stay round the pack house but far enough away to get some space, hey I know where we can go!” I sat up excitedly “leave Lucas a note saying we have gone for a walk or they will only send out a search party” I rolled my eyes Mel giggled and wrote out a note to Lucas and Tristan I then grabbed Mel and we headed straight for the back doors of the pack house, as we rushed through I saw Ruby glaring at me from across the common room “who’s that giving you a death stare” Mel asked looking over at Ruby “oh that’s ruby I’ll tell you after” as Ruby stared at us until we were out of sight.

I took Mel to the castle on the hill where Tristan took me that first night “this is exactly what I needed” Mel whispered with her eyes closed breathing in the fresh air from the top of the hill I climbed onto one of the ruined walls and just gazed out into the stunning view Mel came up to join me “you ok?” she asked softly I took a deep breath “yes, I am ok with being Tristan's mate I want to make it work with him even being this far away from him and not speaking to him for a few hours is making my heart ache slightly” I told her a smile lingering on my lips “oh I’m so glad for you” Mel hugged me “what about you?” I watched Mel's face to find out her true feelings “well I’m not as far along as you and Tristan are but I’m happy to give him a chance and more time, I’m just going to tell him that I need to take things slow this is all new to me” Mel looked determined but happy “good, I’m so glad you are going to be here with me, I’m surprised at how much I miss the village and my parents I’ve only been gone like a night” we both sat together and giggled, we stayed on top of the ruined castle for awhile longer happy just being together and getting some space and perspective. “What’s that?” Mel was looking down the hill “I don’t know its looks like people running” I squinted looking down the hill “oh s**t we better get going it looks like they are coming this way “maybe its just the boys looking for us” Mel suggested shrugging her shoulders “well it could be we have been gone for awhile now they wouldn’t let rogues this close to the pack house I suppose” but I couldn’t help the feeling of uneasiness that was lurking in the pit of my stomach “I think we need to go” I told Mel the figures below had gone out of sight now, “ok” Mel stood up we started making our way down the hill back to the pack house we where a good fifteen minutes walk away from the pack house I wanted to move quickly “what was that!” I shouted jumping around “nothing you are just worked up come lets walk quicker” Mel offered I looked around at the trees surrounded us, I couldn’t see anyone we picked up our pace anyway I think Mel was starting to feel uneasy as we marched down the hill, Mel suddenly screamed as I got pushed away from her I fell to the ground and looked up to find a monstrously huge wolf on top of her, the ear piercing scream that Mel was making made the blood drain from my face I quickly pulled myself up and launched myself at the wolf not really knowing what I was going to do but I couldn’t just let my best friend be hurt so I started kicking and punching at the wolf until great strong arms lifted me up off of them I started screaming I screamed for Tristan and Lucas I struggling to get away from the wolf that was now holding me, I looked over at Mel and two wolves where now holding her down and I couldn’t see her face I let out a roar a sound I didn’t even know I could make and started to struggled again against my own captor, I screamed in agony as a pain seared through my back I cried out at the pain as it sent shocks through my body I heard shouting but the pain was blinding me my back felt like it was being ripped apart the wolf must of clawed at me in our struggle the pain seemed to subside as I panted on the floor my back burning, I was lying face down on the floor when I felt them…. my wings
