A kiss??? The f**king nerve of this man to ask for a kiss!!!!!!! I looked out at the window and tried to ignore his words and presence. “What a diligent way to greet your husband to be, huh??” he said and I continue looking out at the window of the car.. I don’t still know where we are going, he’s not telling me either and he’s still trying to piss me off by addressing himself as my boyfriend and now husband to be. “Calvin, you’re an ex boyfriend and you’re not my husband to be,” I corrected him. “No qualms, Ex-boyfriend it is,” he said teasingly… I still don’t know what’s with him and why he’s acting like this all of a sudden. “Where are you taking me?” I asked him, completely ignoring his last words. “ Home, where you belong.” He said. “ No Calvin, I don’t belong there. I know a decent coffee shop in the next town, we can stop there and talk. I don’t see any good reason why we need to go to your house. We may not be dating again but he’s still a man and I don’t trust him, neither myself. Two years have passed and my feelings for him hasn't changed a bit, my body still jumps at the touch of his hands and my heart trembles at the sound of his soft baritone voice. "Why, you're scared of me?" he teasingly asked while not even trying to hide the smirk on his face. "Why would I? I just don't think that it would be appropriate for us to be alone in that house," I defended. "I would have also loved an outside meeting with you but I have to attend an important conference and my laptop is at home, I need a very serene and quiet environment for it. I won't do anything against your will," I saw him smirked when I peeked over the rear view mirror. Our eyes met and it surely send shivers down to my spine and my heart almost jump off my rib cage. Damn your heart, Alice.!!!! I shifted my gaze back to the window and never tried to look his way again. Few minutes later, we arrived Calvin's luxurious mansion that used to be my home too. I didn't wait for him to open the door for me like he always did when we are still together. I don't want to expect anything from him. He grabbed my hand while leading the way inside the house. I'm not comfortable with the way his staff keep staring at me like I did something horrible. I tried to snatch my hand from his grip and when I didn't succeed in removing my hand from his grip, I just bowed my head and tried to hide it so no one would recognize me. "What are you doing?" he asked frowning as he stopped just before climbing the stairs. "Stop talking and start walking will you? I need to get this over with before anyone sees me. Gossips in this town spreads like a wildfire and I don't want people talking about me like they did two years ago when I left," I told him while I'm still trying to bow down my head as low as possible. "You don't have to worry about that, this is your home and the staff are new, you can fire anyone you don't like," he said while shrugging his shoulder. "What?! What are you talking about?" I asked, surprised by what he was saying. I was about to bombard him with another question as we get to the end of the stairs, he took out his key from his pocket and opened the door wide before letting me in first. He even gestured a courtesy for me that just earned an eye rolling from me. He pulled me inside and didn't bother answering me and just continued to ignore me. "Calvin, I'm asking you--" "Patience, Alice, patience, you still lack patience after two years!" he said after cutting me off. "Patience, your face!" I told him then abruptly pulled my hand from him which took him by surprise that's why I easily took back my hand from his grip. I rolled my eyes at him when I saw him smirking. Moment of silence wraps the whole room and that's the most agonizing minutes of my entire life. Being confined in this big space with him doesn't do me any good. "Grandma Loring is coming back to Texas," he started. I quickly turned my face at him with a wrinkle in my forehead. "And what does it have to do with me?" "She's not aware we are not together," he explained. Grandma Loring is Calvin's only surviving relative, She's his Aunty and she raised him after his parents passed away in an accident when he was little. She's a self proclaimed Calvin-Alice shipper. She's been rooting for us to get married since the beginning of our relationship. " It's been two whole years Calvin and you didn't tell her???, Why???" "I was busy and it completely lost my mind to inform her about us," "You're busy with what? Your mistress?" I sarcastically told him. "What? You still haven't gotten past that?" he said and started to get annoyed. Yeah, he's right. There's no use in bringing back the past. "Well to make the story short, she's not doing well that's why she's coming back here in Texas to spend her last years with us," he continued. "What?! What happened to Grandma?" I was surprised with the news. "She's old and weak and she's expecting to stay with us. I can't afford to tell her now about what happened to us, it will break her. You know how much she loved us being together." He's right, Grandma Loring will definitely get sad when she finds out that her favorite love team broke up. "Please make yourself at home, we will discuss the other details when I finish with the conference call," he said walking towards the cabinet that has his laptop, I watch him assemble his table and chair in preparation for the conference. I thought he was talking to me when I first heard him talk but when I looked at him, he's focused on his laptop. The conference has started and I just stare and admire him, very intelligent man. I look around the room to look for something to do while passing the time and waiting for Calvin. I decided to open the mini refrigerator and raid it. I saw a couple of beers in a can and some soft drinks. There's also chips inside. I took the bear and the chips and slumped against the couch. I started scrolling on my phone while drinking the can of beer in my hand..
