‘You beast,’ she said softly, planting a kiss on his cheek. ‘You knew all the time. Why didn’t you tell me?’
‘I wasn’t sure,’ he admitted frankly. ‘That’s why I wanted you to come with me. It was just a hunch after you mentioned “Sheila” when we were swapping family histories that did it.’
‘How are we going to prove it?’
He patted his pocket. ‘I’m hoping this tape will do that for us. Our next step is to have a word with Henry, our solicitor, to show him what we’ve found.’
He coughed. ‘That, of course, means showing your birthmark.’
She blushed. ‘I couldn’t do that, not even for Henry.’
