Chapter Ten Another house, another property with lots of trees and bushes, maybe two to five acres. He could see four cars parked out front. There was a garden off to the side, and a group were sitting around on lawn chairs on a patio in back. He parked his Jeep behind a small blue Tracker and took in the pickup beside it just as Carmen pulled in behind him. “Stay,” he said to the dog. He knew he could have left him at the station, but there was something about the dog disappearing the first time. He knew he may have gone after whoever it was who had been watching him. Dogs just had a way of picking up on things people missed. They read people better, too.
