Carli’s POV: Jaccia and I have been exploring the dark and damp tunnel for a couple hours now. The walls are rough and jagged, causing scrapes and small cuts on our skin and clothing. Sound is muted and we hear only our breathing and footsteps as we squeeze through narrow gaps and crawl under fallen rocks. Tired and thirsty I am happy to notice a wider space up ahead and quietly ask Jaccia if we should stop for a brief rest and drink. She nods and gives me a tired smile, agreeing that is a good idea. Reaching the opening I see that the tunnel begins a downward slope just past it. Jaccia and I sit down on the rocky floor and lean against the cold damp wall. She pulls the water bottle out of the supply sack and takes a long drink then passes it to me. I tilt my head back letting the cool
