Carer Faith’s POV: I freeze in the doorway of the nursery and gasp at the sight of the empty cribs. A cold wave of fear washes over me and my eyes widen in fright as my trembling body collapses to the floor. Tears stream down my cheeks as I try to scream, but no sound comes out. “What will happen to me if the babies are missing or hurt?” I wonder desperately. I know that I am not allowed to sleep on duty but sitting through the long nights with nothing else to do, I often nap. “I must get up and run from here before anyone else notices” I think in panic. I quickly rise to my feet and back out, closing the door. Silence fills the hallway, there is no sign the older children are stirring.
