Chapter 7

As soon as we entered the club Nico dragged us all to the bar to order. We werewolves have a hard time getting drunk, so there was no time to waste. Nico ordered three tequila shots for each of us. I drank them without a second thought. Then I ordered a rum with zero Coke. I smiled as Nico and Juan forced Miguel to drink their shots. No doubt my brothers can be very persuasive.    I drank my first drink and ordered another. Suddenly, a song we love came on and Juan dragged us all to the center of the dancefloor. In this club they only played reggaeton. Honestly, it was the best kind of music to dance to. When we came to the United States, my brothers had a drama because they could only find clubs with music that, according to them, was not danceable. One day they found this club by chance and since then, they haven't missed a single week. They promised me only reggaeton songs the day they brought me here, and they certainly kept their promise. The drinks started to kick in and I started to follow the music lively. Most of the people here were Latinos, and they danced beautifully. I wasn't so good, but I was trying to keep up with them. Suddenly someone gave me a hug, causing me to drop my drink. I groaned in protest as I looked down at my fallen glass and looked up at Cassandra.    -"Come on, I'll buy you another one," she exclaimed animatedly dragging me to another bar.   As we approached the bar, I could see Kayden and Ian were there. Ian greeted Cas with a passionate kiss as if they hadn't seen each other in months.   -"God, you guys split up a literal second ago please," I said pretending to retch. A half smile formed on Kayden's face at my comment.   He looked more handsome than ever. He was wearing a white shirt that highlighted his tanned skin and silver eyes. He had combed his normally tousled hair a bit. I had an incredible urge to run my hands through his hair. My eyes lowered and met his imposing torso. His shirt was tight, showing off his huge muscles. The first two buttons were undone, revealing his huge pecs.   My perverted mind, spurred on by Electra, began to imagine my hands undoing the rest of the buttons and running them over his perfect pecs and abs. I bit my lower lip. I don't know how long I can go without pouncing on that Greek god, really.    "Stop biting your lower lip like that or you'll regret it”. I heard Kayden's voice in my head. My eyes widened in surprise. Either I'm too drunk already or I can hear Kayden in my head. "Because we are mates we have our own telepathy channel, even if we're not from the same pack."    I nodded and walked over to the bar to order another drink. I didn't want to think about the mess I was getting myself into by not turning Kayden down, and for that, I needed a drink.   -“Kevin!!!" I shouted loudly as I waved to the bartender.   -“Well, well, my favorite customer," he said approaching me with a grin, "The usual?" I nodded with a flirtatious smile.    I heard a loud grunt and turned around. Kayden had moved to my right and was leaning on the bar. All his muscles were tense, and his eyes were no longer a silvery grey but a dark grey, almost black. He was furious and I could tell he was trying to control his wolf.   -“And for you?" said Kevin looking at Kayden. He had turned serious and was no longer smiling but was looking at Kayden with fear.   -“Nothing," Kayden replied flatly.    Kevin walked away to get my rum. I noticed Kayden relax slightly.    -“Wow, so it's true that people are afraid of you," I said, holding back a laugh, "Is it also true that you'll bite heads off if they look at you funny?”   Kayden laughed. It was only for a few seconds, but it was definitely the best seconds of my life. I would never have guessed that such a big, strapping man would have a nice laugh. I would never have guessed that Kayden could laugh. But his laugh had been like music to my ears. I would have paid anything to never stop hearing him laugh.    -“Are you afraid of me?" he asked. His eyes had returned to their usual silver-grey.   -“You wish.” I replied. I grabbed the drink Kevin had prepared and walked away to the dance floor.    On the way I grabbed Cas by the arm, earning a growl from Ian. We walked to the middle of the dance floor and danced our hearts out. We knew all the songs, so we sang along as we danced. I was having the time of my life. I had completely switched off. I was drunk and happy. Until suddenly, I noticed an arm grabbing my waist, walking around my body, and a mouth next to my ear said,    -" Hi beautiful, do you want to have a good time tonight?"- I noticed how my heart stopped and how the hairs on the back of my neck stood up.    Before I could react, someone had taken the man off me. I turned and saw Nico grabbing the man by the neck. Huge arms wrapped around my shoulders protectively.   -“Where the hell have you been?" Juan said angrily, "You left without saying anything.”   I looked to my left and saw Miguel standing next to Nico, arms crossed, staring at the man. I noticed movement to my right and when I turned around, I saw Kayden and Ian. I had never seen anyone as angry as Kayden. It was normal for people to be afraid of him. His eyes were completely black. A small shiver ran through my body. If I didn't do something Kayden would kill that man.    I pulled away from Juan and quickly stepped in front of Kayden. He looked like an angry bull about to charge the man. He was going to run me over, so I put my hands up to stop him, placing them on his chest. The moment my hands touched his chest, streams of pleasure coursed through my body. Kayden stopped dead in his tracks and looked up at me. His eyes were absolutely inhuman. A moment ago, I had told him I wasn't afraid of him, now I realized that was a lie. Every inch of my body trembled with sheer terror.    I noticed how his body began to relax slightly and his eyes began to clear. He looked at me with pity and I felt a prick in my heart. I don't know how, but I knew her grief was my fault. He had noticed that I was afraid of him, and that made him sad. Not being able to bear his gaze any longer, I turned to look at Nico and Juan. Nico still had the boy by the throat. The boy was white as wax and shaking like a leaf. My brothers and Miguel were staring at Kayden and me. They had seen the scene.    -“Nico, let him go,"- I ordered, looking at him seriously. Nico didn't move a muscle, -"Nicolas, I said let him go.” I ordered him again, hardening my tone even more.    Finally, Nico let him go. The man ran off and we soon lost sight of him.    -“I'm going home," I said to Cas, who had remained in the background during the fight. Cas nodded and grabbed my hand.    -“I'll walk with you," Miguel said, taking a step towards us.    - “No need, I'll go with them," Kayden cut him off, stepping in front of me.    -“Actually, Alpha Kayden, that won't be necessary," -Nico interjected, grabbing my arm, -"Juan and I will walk our sister and her friend home.”-   -“Stop it!" I shouted at them. The music was still playing, and it was giving me a headache. Besides, I had noticed how everyone was looking at us - "I don't need four nannies to take care of me. I can take care of myself. I'm going to take a taxi home now. Cassandra can come with me. I swear, if any of you follow me, I'll beat the s**t out of you.”   -“Can I come?" -Ian asked, stepping in for the first time. I glared at him, "It's not for you, it's for escorting Cas," Ian assured me.   I shrugged and headed for the exit, accompanied by Cas and Ian. When I got home, I ran upstairs to my room and locked the door. I put on my pajamas and climbed into bed. I knew I wasn't going to get any sleep, but I wanted to at least feel the comfort of my bed. The way that man had touch me, and how he had talked to me had rekindled my worst memories. I could feel the tears streaming uncontrollably down my cheeks. Sometime during the night someone knocked on my door, but I didn't answer. I didn't want to see anyone.    I spent the night in white. Crying curled up in my bed. We were supposed to meet downstairs at 9 o'clock to go to Kayden's territory. So, at 7 o'clock I got out of bed, not having slept a single minute. I took a shower and put on my uniform. I nearly scared myself to death when I looked in the mirror. I looked terrible, accentuated by huge dark circles under my eyes and puffy eyes from crying. I disguised it as best I could with some make-up, pulled my hair into a ponytail and went downstairs for breakfast.   Everyone was already downstairs eating breakfast, but the kitchen was absolutely silent. I grabbed a bowl of cereal, put some milk in it and sat down next to Lucas. Lucas looked at me questioningly, but I didn't look up from my cereal, showing him that I didn't want to talk about it.   By 9 o'clock we were all ready at the entrance. Lucas put my bags down and gave me a huge hug.   -“Please, call me if you need anything and I'll be right there, promise," Lucas said, breaking the hug.    -“I promise Lu, everything will be fine," I said forcing a smile.   Then I hugged Marcos and said goodbye to Amy and Cristina. I looked at my car options. They were all gone except for two, which seemed to be waiting for me. One was Kayden's Mercedes sports car. Ian and Cas were already inside, and Kayden was leaning against his car, staring at me. The other car belonged to our pack; it was an off-road Jeep. Leaning against the car were my two brothers and Miguel.   I grabbed my bags and headed for the Jeep. Right away Miguel came over to help me carry them to the car. "Come in my car," I heard Kayden say in my head. It wasn't an offer, but an order. All I needed was for him to give me orders now. "No," I replied without looking at him and got into the Jeep. I heard a door slam and the sound of a car starting up and speeding away. I sighed. I pulled a blanket out of my bag, curled up against the window and fell asleep. . . -Kayden’s P.O.V.-   I was squeezing the steering wheel so hard that my knuckles were starting to turn white. My jaw also hurt from clenching my teeth. But I didn't care. Those pains were just minor distractions. I was furious that Catalina had refused to go with me in the car. After all the events of yesterday, I needed to keep her close, to constantly check that she was okay. But she had refused to go with me and had preferred to go with her brothers and that Miguel guy.   Zeus was furious and had been all the 5-hour drive trying to take control. "If anything happens to mate it's going to be your fault. We have to protect mate, no one else can touch mate again" Zeus growled. He had repeated that same phrase to me at least 100 times.    I massaged the bridge of my nose with two fingers trying to relax. I had been in a state of pure tension and fury for 5 hours. Ian and his mate hadn't opened their mouths the whole way. Ian, because he knew when he was like this, he wasn't supposed to bother me, and his mate because she was terrified. I could smell her fear from here. But I didn't care at all. All I cared about right now was getting home and checking that Catalina was okay. I knew Zeus and I weren't going to calm down until we saw her get out of the car without a scratch.   I was aware that Catalina knew how to defend herself, but that wasn't enough to calm me down. When I saw her defeat Ian, I felt my heart fill with pride and admiration. I would never have bet on such a small girl being able to knock out my Beta. But she moved with an agility and determination I had never seen in another she-wolf. When she transformed into her wolf, I felt my heart race. Zeus howled at the sight of our mate.    I had never seen a wolf so beautiful and graceful. Her fur was blond, a blond a little lighter than Catalina's hair, it was almost white. Her fur contrasted with her emerald, green eyes, making them stand out. She was not a large wolf, but she moved with a great deal of speed and agility. But when that precious fur was stained with blood, I felt my heart break into a thousand pieces. I knew Ian wouldn't do anything to her, but I still had to use all my strength not to let Zeus take control and rip Ian's head off.    However, the fury I had felt at that moment was in no way comparable to the one I felt at the club. Catalina looked more beautiful than ever. It was the first time I had seen her with her hair down, and the sight completely captivated me. Her hair was wavy. It looked like a beautiful cascade of gold, flowing down to the middle of her back. The dress she was wearing highlighted every curve of her body. As soon as I saw her, I had to hold on tightly to the bar counter so I wouldn't run to grab her and take her away. I didn't want anyone else to look at her. She was mine, only mine.    First it had been that stupid bartender who had flirted with her in my face. But Catalina had laughed about it and gone dancing with her friend. Watching her dance had been quite a spectacle. The way she moved her hips, her body, how she danced glued to her friend, made me hard down there. Imagining her moving her body like that against mine had turned me on like no other woman had ever turned me on. But that man had come along and grabbed her, ran his hands over her perfect body and whispered something in her ear. At that very moment I lost all control over my body. It was Zeus who took control and launched himself straight at the man.   If Catalina hadn't gotten in the way, that man would be dead right now. There was no doubt in my mind. Zeus would not have let him live after touching what is ours. It was when Catalina touched me to stop me that I noticed the waves of fear radiating from her body. My mate was afraid of me.    Normal. I was a monster and didn't deserve someone like her.   That night had only served to reaffirm what I already knew, I didn't deserve to have a mate and I had to get Catalina to reject me.   We finally arrived home. There were 4 black Jeeps parked in the driveway, but none of them where the one Catalina was riding in. They were the cars of the rest of the warriors, who should have arrived a while ago.    At the door was Mark waiting for us. Mark is my Gamma. I don't have a relationship with him like I have with Ian, but we still have a very close relationship. The three of us had grown up together and had always been friends. When the pack started to grow, Ian and I couldn't keep up, so I decided to appoint a Gamma to help us. Ian is the only person I fully trust since what happened. But the only other person who could eventually earn my trust was Mark. So, I gave the position to him. Over time he had proven that he was the perfect person for the job and that he was loyal to me.   He greeted us with a smile and approached us.     -“How did everything go?" I asked him when he reached us.    -“Everything was perfect. There have been no attacks these days. The warriors arrived an hour ago. Everyone has been shown to their quarters. Although, according to what Beta Ian told me, there should be 18 warriors in total, only 13 of them have arrived”- He fell back and looked Cassandra up and down, and when he saw that she was dressed in uniform, he rectified, "14 sorry”.   -"Mark, this is Casandra, my mate," -Ian said with a grin from ear to ear. -"Cas, this is Mark, the Gamma of Blood Moon."   -"You can call me Cas"- She said as she shook Mark's hand.  -"Do you know who else has found his mate?"- Ian said looking at Mark with a mischievous grin. Mark's eyes widened like saucers. I shot a murderous glare at Ian, but he decided to ignore it.   -"Indeed, our dear Alpha Kayden has found his Luna."   -"And, where is she?"- Mark asked looking around for her. Suddenly, he seemed to understand and looked at me. -"Wait, you didn't reject her, did you?"- Mark asked incredulously.    -"Indeed dear Mark, Kayden has rejected our Luna."   Ian was always playing on my patience, and many times it had backfired on him. But it seemed to amuse him to get on my nerves. I tried to punch him to shut him up, but he expected it and promptly dodged it.    -"But that's not the best part of the story"-Ian continued. -"The best part is that she hasn't accepted Kayden's rejection."- Mark looked dumbfounded. The sound of an approaching car interrupted the conversation.    -“Don't worry Mark, you're going to have the pleasure of meeting our Luna in a few seconds. All your questions are going to be answered when you meet her." - Ian said as he smiled and looked at the approaching car. The asshole was amused by the situation.   I waited for the car to stop. When I finally saw her get out of the car, I felt all the tension in my body disappear. My head ached as a result of having accumulated the tension for so long. Touching my temples to ease the pain, I went into the house. I didn't want to talk to her, I didn't want to see her, I had to avoid Catalina at all costs.   I went into the house. As soon as I entered the house, I heard someone running. Suddenly I noticed how someone grabbed my leg tightly.    -“Hi Lily," I greeted her as I bent down to hold her in my arms.  "How's everything? Have you been good? Lily nodded vigorously and clutched her little arms around my neck.   -“Kayden, you're back!" I heard Isabela yell as she came over to me. –“You had us worried sick, we thought you were coming back yesterday and you didn't show up. “   She smiled at me and gave me a hug.    Just then, the door opened and there was a growl.
