(Kaelen) She brings it up on a Sunday. No particular reason for Sunday except that it's quiet and the pack has a different rhythm on Sundays — slower, more domestic, the kind of day where the formal machinery of Silver Crescent idles and people exist in their personal lives rather than their pack roles. Theron makes actual breakfast on Sundays. Not the quick eggs of early mornings but the full version — something that takes twenty minutes and involves a pan she's only seen on weekends. She sits at the island and watches him cook and she's been turning this over for two weeks and she's done turning it over. "I want to do the severance ritual," she says. He doesn't stop what he's doing. Just pauses for half a second and then continues. "The formal one," he says. Not a question. "Yes."
