Everything has come crumbling down. My mother’s lies have been exposed; she wasn’t the person she portrayed herself to be.
A few days ago, a man claiming to be my father arrived, asking my mother for money. He threw divorce papers at her and expected her to sign them, but she kept denying everything. She blamed him, claiming he had a mistress all these years.
He laughed, shaking his head in disbelief. “If it weren’t for money, you wouldn’t be here. You never loved me. All you wanted was wealth, but I guess you chose wrong.”
“If you want alimony, you can sign it now, or I’ll be forced to take it to court,” he said.
I stood there, watching. He was my father, and I had always blamed him. Now, I saw something different: my mother would do anything to keep her wealth.
