Chapter 10 Chris's POV I did what the Alpha asked me to do. I showed her the cabin. While she was walking ahead of me, I couldn't help but watch her ass. I wondered what it would look like if I was behind it. I did give her a hint, telling her if she ever needed anything fixed around the house, to give me a call. I even gave her my number before walking out. As I walked back into the pack house, Grill was waiting for me. "So, you showed her the cabin?" I couldn't help but smirk. "Yeah. I even gave her my number so she could call me if she ever needed anything fixed. She'll probably call tomorrow." Grill laughed before punching me in the arm like friends do. "Man, wear a baby wrapper. There's no telling how many she's been with, so be careful. And by the way, she might try to use you for something, so keep your guard up." "Alright, Alpha. No matter what she tries to do or says, there's no way I'm going to go against you or this pack. If she tries anything, she'll go down." "Alright. I'm about to head home for the night and try to get some sleep." "Alright, Chris. Go get some rest. I'll see you in a few days." Grill's POV Chris is funny. I like him already. There was so much to do and so many people to get to know. I never expected to become an Alpha the moment I got here, but Jax had thought of everything. He was even waiting for us in the living room. Ava and I walked in together. Jax stood as soon as we entered. "Well, man, I said six months because I wanted to give you time to think about things. But here you are. Have you thought about what you're going to name your pack? And make sure Catherine doesn't come between you and Ava. I'm proud of you, Grill. You're my best friend." "Yeah, I have thought about the name. How about The Blue Moon Lycan Mafia Pack? And trust me, I have eyes on that woman. I don't trust her at all. I still don't know why she's here, and I know that boy is actually her son, not her grandson. She's up to something. I just don't know what it is yet, but sooner or later, I'll find out." He nodded as we shook hands. "Yeah, I know you will. I need to get going. Hati is waiting, and I don't want to leave her alone for too long. She's pregnant." My eyes lit up. "Congratulations, man! I can't wait to meet my nephew." We walked him outside and watched him drive away. I turned to Ava, took her hand in mine, and led her upstairs. I didn't know which bedroom was ours, but I knew the top floor was meant for the Alpha and Luna. I'd have to get my things from Jax's pack tomorrow. I had a whole house there, so there would be a lot to pack. When we reached the top floor, I opened the first door. Lucky for us, it was the bedroom. Thank the Goddess. We walked inside and shut the door behind us. I turned toward her. "Listen, I agreed to take things slow, and we are. I'll sleep on that couch over there if you're not comfortable with me sleeping in the bed." I secretly hoped she wouldn't mind me lying beside her. She smiled and nodded. "I wouldn't mind that at all. But... I don't have any clothes. I took whatever clothes I could find hanging outside or in the trees. I don't know what to wear." I pulled my shirt over my head and handed it to her. "Wear this. Tomorrow we'll head back to my old pack and pack up my things. I had a house there, so there's a lot to bring back." She took my shirt and opened the first door. It was a walk-in closet. She opened another door and found the bathroom. She went inside to change before coming back out wearing my shirt. She climbed into bed while I left my boxers on and lay down beside her. I wasn't tired at all. She rolled over, giving me her back. I reached over and turned off the light. Within minutes, I could hear her soft, steady breathing. She was already asleep. Damn... that was fast. I didn't even get the chance to talk to her about the Luna Ceremony, but I didn't want her to feel rushed. I still had Catherine to worry about. She was up to no good. I knew it. Those people weren't her pack. I'd met some of them before. They had been lone wolves. What had she threatened them with? I needed to find out. I'd never been much of a sleeper. Back when I was on patrol, I'd stay awake for three days straight if I had to. All I could do now was listen to Ava's breathing. There was no way I was getting any sleep tonight. Quietly, I climbed out of bed, slipped my pants back on, and headed downstairs to my office. A note sat on my desk. It was from Jax. Hey, man, I set the computer up for you. Everything you need to know is on there. The elders will be here tomorrow to give you your Alpha Ceremony. Hati and I will be there too. You have files, books, and scrolls. You know what to do. You've been watching me for years. Get some sleep. —Jax Shit. I still wasn't tired. Where was the kitchen around here? I had no clue where anything was. When the sun came up, I'd take a quick walk through the pack house and learn where everything was. Then I'd need to set up training. "Grill... come back to bed. I turned around and you weren't there." I hadn't even realized Ava had walked into the office. I'd been so lost in my thoughts. s**t. "I didn't mean to worry you, honey. Go back upstairs. I'll be there shortly, okay? I promise." She nodded before heading back upstairs. That was another thing I'd have to get used to...Having a mate. Damn. I had a lot of s**t to get used to around here.
