Going back 29

Chapter 29 Catherine POV I hoped he was buying every word of it. The money I'd stolen hadn't been wasted. I'd used it to pay the black witch and her family. They wanted something far more valuable than cash. They wanted Ava. For some reason, they were obsessed with her. It had something to do with her powers beginning to awaken. Personally, I didn't believe she had any powers at all. She didn't deserve to be a Luna. That gutter slut needed to go back to wherever she'd crawled out of. Once I got back to the pack, I'd make her life a living hell. Grill needed to reject her. And I'd make sure he did. "Catherine, are you even listening to me?" Tony asked, snapping me out of my thoughts. "I said pack a bag. Actually, don't worry about it. We'll buy whatever we need when we land. We need to get to the jet and get back to Alpha Grill. We have to figure out how to stop these people." Perfect. He was already worried. Now I just had to make him terrified.,I forced my eyes to water and let a few tears fall before looking up at him. "Tony... they're not just people," I whispered, my voice shaking. "They're dangerous. They'll stop at nothing to get what they want. When we get there, we'll have to stay out of sight. They'll know we're there, but if we don't draw attention to ourselves, they'll leave us alone." I swallowed hard, pretending I was struggling to keep myself together. "They only want Alpha Grill and Luna Ava. We have to be careful." I could almost see the gears turning in his head. Without hesitation, he stepped forward, took my hands, and pulled me into his arms. "Catherine, it's going to be okay," he said softly. "Everything will be fine. We'll get there, help them deal with this, and then we'll come home and live our lives." He paused before reaching into his jacket. "But there was something I wanted to talk to you about." He looked me in the eyes. "After everything that's happened... after finding out why you took the money... I've decided to give you your own bank account. You can do whatever you want with it, even if it's helping those people." If only he knew. "The moment I find them," he continued, his voice hardening, "I'm going to rip them apart for what they did to you." He slipped a sleek black bank card into my hand. "This card is connected to your own account. I've deposited twenty million dollars into it. Spend it however you want. Buy whatever you need. Just promise me you'll make sure Noah has everything he needs too." He smiled sadly. "And once it's gone, that's it. I won't be adding any more money. So use it wisely." My heart nearly stopped. Twenty...Million...Dollars. Did he have any idea what I could accomplish with that kind of money? This was even better than I'd imagined. I slipped the card into my purse, hiding the grin that threatened to spread across my face. "If we're going to leave," I said calmly, "we need to leave now." Tony nodded, lacing his fingers through mine as we hurried toward the waiting jet. I stared ahead, already imagining the moment I'd walk back into Grill's pack. Ava's face would be priceless. She thought she'd won. She thought she was safe. Now I had money... more money than I'd ever dreamed of. And I was going to put every single dollar to very good use.
