His eyes darted to Ella's face, where a smile played on her lips.
Instead of smiling, she should have been upset or depressed. The fearful Ella should have been there, watching over her shoulder instead he sees a different woman and it makes him furious.
In his mind, he fantasizes about inflicting as much pain and suffering as possible on the woman he despises, determined to make her endure a long-lasting torment.
His intention is to dominate and break her, but his past efforts have proven futile. Instead of being shattered, she has found happiness and strength.
