After the amazing kiss we’d had last night, my disappointment that Brynn hadn’t come by to see me before she left the hospital wasn’t surprising at all. I woke to the sounds of another lady bringing in my breakfast, and I asked, “Is Nurse Brynn still around?”
“No. Her shift ended at six this morning. Nurse Joe is here. Do you need me to get him for you?” She put the bowl of fresh fruits on my tray. Then she pulled a small bag of mixed nuts out of her pocket and placed them on the tray too. Heading back into the hallway, she dug through her little stainless-steel cart and came back with a glass of something green. “Your juice.”
