“Charleyyyyy!” I heard a familiar voice shouting my name while heading the class.
I turned back to the corridor and saw Mia.
“Hey Mia!!”
“Watsup gurl?” I imitated her.
She crossed her arms and chuckled.
Mia was my best friend, best of all. She’s been with me since I was 8. She was one of my dad’s business partners daughter.
She gave me a fist bump and tagged her arms on my shoulders. She looked beside me to see Olivia.
“Hey Olives!”
“What’s up with you lately?”
“You didn’t show up last week?”
Olivia rolled her eyes and sighed.
“Uhhhmm”
“I was pretty sick last week that I couldn’t even get off from my bed”
“So, I thought that it was the best chance to lay my body off school”
We laughed.
“Damn!”
“Atleast you didn’t pretend to be sick!!”
Olivia tongued out and chuckled. We got in our class and took our seats.
“Okay buddies!”
“Will see ya later then!”
She waved off and took her seat in the middle. We got to our last bench. It was usually me and her on the last bench in the middle column. To our left, there was a transfer student and the class topper. On our right, it was two twin girls.
We sat down and I started to examine the class whereas Mia started scrolling on her phone. She seemed too teen for me. “TEENAGE PROBLEMS OR ADDICTION” I’d say.
Our class had different dialects which made me find equality. There were students from different countries. I’d always interact with all of ‘em because I loved it.
I felt my throat kinda dry. I looked in my bag if my mom kept any juices.
“Well I think I got one!”
I saw a bottle in my bag that I use for drinks. I took it out and twisted the cap out. I took a sip.
“Yuck!”
“This isn’t a juice”
I wiped off my mouth with my hands and closed the bottle.
This was more like a bitter bone booster. Last night my mom brought me back to my room while I was sleep walking and told me that I hit the console so hard that it fell off. That’s why to prevent my body weakening she gave me this bitter stuff I guessed.
When I tried to shove it back into my bag, Mia snatched it from my hands.
“I know this is the bitter stuff”
“If you dare not to drink this, we won’t be hanging out after the school”
I rolled off my eyes and crossed my arms.
“Are kidding me?”
“It’s bitter than anything in this world”
“After all, I don’t feel weak Mia”
“C’mon!”
I reached my hands to take my bottle but she backed it away.
“I’m serious Charley” she said it in a monotone voice.
I sighed.
“Okay fine!”
“Gimme!”
“I’ll drink that shi..”
She closed my mouth with her fingers.
“No swearing with health”
I took off her fingers and snatched the bottle. I closed my eyes and tried to pour it down in one gulp.
I showed her the empty bottle and flustered.
She said nothing and got back into her phone. The bitterness totally ruined my chocolate brownie I had this morning. I shoved the bottle in my bag and snatched out my water bottle. I nearly downed the ¾th water in my bottle.
I noticed our econ professor waiting for us near the teacher’s desk to greet him.
“Oops”
I placed the bottle inside the desk and we all stood up and greeted him. He gestured us to sit down and started his lessons for that day.
When I was taking notes, I saw Mia peeping into her phone.
“Mia! If you aren’t putting the phone down, I’ll call out” I whispered loud enough for her to hear.
She scoffed and mocked me to dare.
“Uhmm”
“Excuse me sir!”
She tapped me on my thighs and begged me. I chuckled.
The professor turned back and looked at me.
“What?”
I loved to make her feel horrific but I really don’t want it.
“UHMM”
“Can you once again repeat the formula to calculate GDP?”
He nodded and repeated it. He then continued. Mia jaw dropped and looked at me.
“JEEZ!”
“Can’t believe you!”
I chuckled and gestured her to take notes. She rolled off her eyes and started taking notes.
The class terminated for the next period. It was craft class. We got dismissed from our class and we started heading towards the craft room. I was walking beside Mia when my bully pushed me from my back. She pushed me quite enough to fall off and get my diseased body weaker.
“Ouch!” I fell on the ground and guarded my head with my hand.
Mia saw me and pushed “the bully” away.
“What the hell is wrong with you monster??”
They both started fighting. Jake saw me and came towards running.
“Charley!”
“You okay?”
I nodded and took a grip from his arms. He slowly helped me to get up and I stood in my foot.
“Thanks Jake!” I smiled.
Jake was my best fried too. He studied science. Well, I’d say that he was responsible in all his matters. He always supported me and stood by me during my dark times. I met him in the school when we were 12. We got thickened when worked together to conduct farewell for our seniors.
He patted me on my shoulders.
“Well I gotta go now Charley!”
“I’ve got my lab work to be completed”
“We’ll meet during the break in the canteen!”
He saw them both still fighting and rolled his eyes.
“I’ll come and break your bully’s knees afterwards”
“Take care!”
“Okay?”
I chuckled and nodded. He patted my head and started heading towards the lab. I dusted off my clothes and held Mia to stop the fight.
“Mia!”
“Stop fighting! LEGGO”
“She’s just a piece of dump”
I tried to console her but she got to her peak. I locked arms with mine and pulled her away from the fight and fingered off my bully.
I kept on pulling her and she kept on cursing the bully. I sighed.
She got back to the normal mode and started walking normally.
“Why don’t you ever beat up gurl!?”
I patted her back.
“I’m not interested in fights Mia!”
“And ya know it!”
She rolled her eyes and we got in the craft class.
The class was good. We learned to make a pot.
While we both were doing one pot, someone tapped me on my shoulders. I turned back to see Christine.
“Hey Charlotte!”
I waved and smiled.
“Hey Christy!!”
She smiled. I noticed the beautiful pot that she had in her hand.
“Wow! That’s really cool!” I pointed out the pot.
She nodded.
“Thanks Charlotte!”
“Do you need any help in making the pot”
I looked at Mia for answers but, she was busy making our pot. I scratched back my head.
“Uhmmm”
“Not really Christy”
“If I need I’ll come up” I smiled.
“Thanks a lot for your kindness”
She smiled and went to the next set beside us.
We completed our pot.
“It looks disgusting” I muttered.
“Maybe we should have grabbed her help”
Mia nodded.
“I know right!”
We took the disguised pot and took it to the room where everyone placed their pot.
When we looked at others, ours looked better. I chuckled.
Our class got over we were dismissed for our break.
