Chapter 19 - The beach

*** Ella’s POV***

The drive to the beach was a nervous one . Thankfully Josh was there to relieve the awkwardness by making small talk with Finn and Lucas. Finn was occasionally sneaking glances at Bethany who was cowering in the back, this was a new side of her I had never seen before , I was used to the confident ‘I’ll talk to anyone ‘ and never gets shy Bethany. 

The boys were deep in conversation talking about how rubbish their schools are and the best local party and hangouts. Josh invited them both to his next one. The conversation then turned to Zane after Lucas asked how they both met. Bethany and I had been wondering the exact same thing. For the first time ever Josh stumbled and froze before explaining that they had mutual friends before quickly changing the subject. 

I soon got distracted by my surroundings , we were driving down a quiet, single track road leading down to the shore. It was a beautiful area, gorgeous green grass and fields on either side of the road leading to an area of tread with golden sand and water peaking through , the sun was only just beginning to set.

Stepping out of the car immediately saw a roaring bonfire surrounded by several groups of people .

I immediately caught sight of Zane , who didn’t look particularly pleased to see us -especially Finn. I was just glad I was not on the receiving end of that Fiery glare. Poor Finn. My heart couldn’t help but beat faster the moment I saw him or maybe it was just my nerves?.

He was wearing black ripped jeans, a black TIGHT t shirt showing off his heavily tattooed arms and instead of his signature boots he has sneakers. Ahh if only he would smile now and again that's all that's was missing..

I noticed he had two other guys with him,  The one on his right had Dark blonde hair which fell just above his eyes under a dark blue cap and snake bite piercings. He wore a white t shirt which showed off his surprising non-tattooed arms. I spotted a long scar on the inside of one of his arms, it looked recent. He just scowled at us which instantly made me feel on edge.

Luckily the other guy had a much warmer and welcoming face, as he stood up and spoke to us I could see he was just as tall as Zane,  Wearing jeans, a white vest top with dangly chains. 

Zane had dragged Finn off leaving us to fend by ourselves..Great!!.  Thankfully another guy approached us from behind and introduced himself as Jack, he then ushered us towards where the others were sitting.

“So the grumpy fucker with the cap is Max” Jack started , Max shot Jack a glare in reply along with a middle finger

“And this lanky bastard is Tyrell-“

“The good looking one may I add” Tyrell cut in giving us both a wink and put out his hand

Jack rolled his eyes as I slowly put my hand out to shake Tyrells hand. I let out a small smile.

“Hi am Ella and this is Bethany and he is Josh Bethany’s cousin.”

Josh sat next to Max followed by Bethany , myself , Jack then Tyrell.

“What’s all that about ?”  Josh asked pointing over to where Zane and Finn were standing. 

Tyrell shrugged “f**k if I know , he is just in a pissy mood”

“No change there then” Max mumbled

After Giving Josh a beer and Jack offered Bethany and I a drink,  I politely declined thinking back to the time when my head was lodged down my toilet throwing my guts up. I had never been more acquainted with my toilet in all my life. 

“Okay Instead of beer what about something a little sweeter we have cans of cocktails? He offered 

“Okay but just one” thinking this may help to calm the nerves a little.

The taste was really sweet and fruity,  It didn’t taste like alcohol but I was  Going to be sensible this time. 

I looked behind me to see Finn walking towards us, Zane was walking in the opposite direction to a group of girls, this made something inside of me ache. I cringed at the sight of him walking off with some girl, I felt a sickness build up in my tummy. After him comforting me last week I thought he might of AtLeast came and said Hello, it was like we weren’t here or I was just a stranger to him. Turning back I took a big gulp of my cocktail and wondered what the rest of the night would bring.
