  Luke ran up the steps, two at a time. He couldn't wait for the elevator.   He needed to see her. See if she was okay, at least.   He'd received a call an hour ago, from a cop, who'd reported the attack on Ava, and the house intrusion. The cop had found his number saved as an emergency contact on her phone.   His first thought had been Ava, and how she'd been all alone, in her house.   He'd quickly gotten in his car and headed to the hospital where the cop told him she'd been admitted.   The traffic picked the worst of days to just...crawl.   Impatient, unsettled, and worried, he'd cursed under his breath every now and then, wondering when he'd be able to get to Ava.
