  Ava's phone rang as she headed out of her mom's apartment. She was in a bit of a bad mood, so she ignored it. Her mother hadn't said a word to her again, after she'd lashed out at her. She'd served the meal and they'd eaten in silence, each seething quietly.   She hadn't been wrong though. Susan knew nothing about what she'd been through in her early years, in their family house. Even if she knew, she'd never bothered to ask. Ava had decided to forget those painful years, leave them behind in the past, so she could be a better person, and have a better future.
