  Ava glided past the pews, where she could see gushing individuals from the corners of her eyes. She knew she had that effect on people. She had always known.   Alex followed closely behind her, holding a bouquet of roses to her bosom.   Ava smiled amicably, just as she had been strictly instructed to, eyes ahead. She didn't want Alex on her neck later.
