Chapter 16For the next week, they repeated the process of finding and burning forests dozens of times. Kenna kept a detailed record of the size and locations of each site. But over time, the trip and the burnings wore Kenna out. She seemed in constant pain. Plagued by tiredness. All the time, she was either twitchy and on high alert or lethargic and prone to making mistakes. She tied her horse to a tree with a knot that didn’t hold, and the animal almost got away.
